Shena J
A few weeks ago, our rear wiper stopped working correctly. If you turn it on, it does nothing, but if you put the car in reverse, it runs. That was an inconvenience, but we dealt with it. Yesterday our key fob stopped locking the car. Then today, the interior lock buttons don't work properly. Each time you press the button, you can hear it trying to click, but no movement, if you press the button about 20 times, it will finally unlock or lock. We're thinking these two things have to be related, but not sure. We've disconnected the battery and reconnected to see if that helped and it did nothing. Does anyone have any ideas? Is this something we can fix, or something we need to take in to be repaired?
5rebel9
Welcome to the forum. As for the rear wiper not working, that sounds like the common problem of broken wire in the rubber "boot" between the rear hatch and body on the drivers side. Many threads about this and how to check/fix can be found on the pages here. For the door lock, could also be broken wires in the boot between the drivers door and the body. Again, many threads about that also. Another possibility is the master switch unit failing on the drivers door. Do you have messages of service key showing up on the info panel? Shena J
No messages showing up. I should also have mentioned that before all this, the rear climate control would turn on randomly (I forgot about that issue). I can't help but feel like all this is connected. 5rebel9
Even the latest "issue" posted is a common fault found here. It takes doing some investigating OF THE CAR as a starting point to find the problem to be able to fix it. IF there is a common "link" for all these "quirks", It would then come down to poor ground points of wiring harness to the body of the vehicle. BUT to my knowledge none of these issues are a common ground connection for components involved. Being a new member, I'd suggest reading thru the various section pages relating to your ride's troubles. Good Luck! 2late4u
Shena J
Your answer seems a little harsh. I had searched all online and one these forums to find someone who had the same issue. I would say not being able to get in or out of your vehicle is more than a "quirk", but that's just me. The other two issues are just nuisances, but the doors not locking or unlocking is a major issue. We have absolutely no access to the trunk through the hatch because it just won't unlock, the passenger side front door will not open (like it's a rear door, you can pull the handle and nothing happens), and the lock/unlock buttons only work after hitting them multiple times. I see forum posts of people who have troubles using their key fob and those who have troubles with one door, but not the other, but I don't find anything where people can't use any of their buttons on the doors or key fob to get the doors locked or unlocked. That is the reason I posted here, in hopes for some help. 2late4u
2late4u
i dont believe he was being HARSH, as we can only guess what has happened and what you are talking about, he is spot on the 2 first problems with broken wires in thoes 2 different spots and offers advice on the last one, you probally need to have it looked at by a good garage that specialises on electrical problems or by the dealership but they will be higher priced but will probally have a better chance on fixing these problems for you, good luck and please report back on whatever you find out to be the problem in case others come up with a problem you are facing... larryl
