Kieran
Hello, I have a 2014 journey r/t rallye. I recently had to remove the rear differential and axels. After I put it back together drove it for a bit with no issues. Now when you first start the car up there is no lights on in the dash but the second you apply pressure to the brakes the ABS kicks in. Within a minute or so the traction control light to the left (on/off with the button shows up in the center) ABS and service AWD light comes on. I have a "Bosch 1350 prograde OBDII" scanner and I plug that in and it detects no codes. With the trouble shooting I have done before the lights come on the ABS is engaged all the time and the AWD works after the lights come on the ABS stops and have "normal brakes" (I think no ABS) but no AWD, FWD only. Also before the service AWD lights come on there is a swooshing sound comming from the front passages side that instantly goes away as soon as the service AWD light comes on. That was not there before diff removal. Also the rear camera now doesn't work post diff removal. It will now and then on its own accord but mostly is a black and white flickering. The sensors to the wheels are brand new less than 3 months old and the diff sensor is in perfect condition. Looking for any help/suggestions. Kieran
Ow also I disconnected the battery for about 45min but the time I got to re-connecting it. I took off the 3 sensors and checked them again all perfect dry and zero sign of corrosion or damage of any kind.
John/Horace
I had the rear axles out two years ago when replacing both diff side seals. A lot of work. When awd, traction control and abs is triggered; it usually ends up being a wheel sensor. Maybe failed internally where you can’t see it. Dealer scanner or big shop with expensive scanner might be able to retrieve a code to point you in right direction.

2late4u
local auto zone dig, my daughter's jeep and said which wheel speed sensor with their code reader....dont see where you are located Kieran
Kieran
I am currently located in Newfoundland. I have an apt this am at a local garage to see if their reader will tell me anything. I know my reader is much much cheaper than what they will have but it is supposed to have ABS/airbag code coverage and enhanced powertrain and ABS datastream features... I dont know anything about these things though first one I have owned/used 2late4u
Kieran
Also does anyone know what the proper name for the sensor that plugs into the rear diff.? I assumed that it would be a speed sensor but no automotive parts store can see anything. So I called Dodge and they have no listing or can even bring up a picture of a sensor for the rear diff. I have seen it on Moparparts canada says it's #3 then go to the number list and there is no #
John/Horace
Specialized parts like that are probably dealer only. Dealer didn’t want to invest time in getting you a part number so you could buy it cheaper on line, maybe. This site is decent for pricing and ships stuff. Need to search for part. https://parts.motorcitychrysler.ca/p/Automatic-Transmission-Assembly-WITH-TORQUE-CONVERTER-Automatic-Transmission-Assembly/78900680/R8090720AH.html Not sure of part name, manual calls is rdu or rear drive unit I think. Might be in electrical parts section. If plug is damaged you might be able to solder and heat shrink the connections. Plug is only needed for removal really. John/Horace
I see what you mean, shows as number 3 part with no info. Odd. Auto wrecker or solder and heat shrink repair the old old pigtail.
Kieran
Yup that's the exact pict I was looking at. So the local garage scanner found 3 codes first on the list was that my front right tonner is gone. First I have ever heard of this part. They told me there that it's a magnet ring that goes in around the wheel barring different methods for different vehicals. So it needs a new wheel barring/hub. Then the other two codes say that it's failing to get a signal from both rear ABS sensors. He figures that because where I had both axels removed when it went into this fault. First replace the barring and go from there. It should solve the dash light issues.
2late4u
actually the tone ring is built onto the cv axle at on all i have ever seen as it spins around ,the abs wire sensor pickup sends the signal to the computer. i am sure that is how it has on journeys as well, that said your wheel bearing as well could be going bad and that as well can cause a wheel speed sensor to show as bad depending on how many miles you have on your journey.....here is a link showing replacing a tone ring,,( i didnt even know it could be replaced but for the trouble and cpost a new cv axle would be the quicker and easier solution as well)
