Raiderfan717171
I just replaced the left head on my journey. Marked all the timing on the cam shaft bearings, the timing chain, cam bearing caps and camphors. Got it back together with all my marks aligning except the arrows on the camphors are a little off. I'd say they are maybe a 1/4" off at the most. Question 1. Is it necessary for the arrows to be perfectly aligned when every thing else is aligned? Question 2. How do I line them up without messing up all my other marks? Will I have to release the tensioner again and start over? Thanks for your responses in advance. John/Horace
I haven’t done a chain on a Journey. But have replaced chains and belts on a few other vehicles. Has the engine moved off top dead center.? If it hasn’t and all the paint marked sprockets and the chain still line up, I would say you are fine. There is some internal play or back lash built in. On timing belts after install and tensioner has been released; I always do 720 degrees or two turns in the clock wise direction and line up the timing marks again. You might find them even closer after this procedure. Good confirmation to very labor intensive procedure. Raiderfan717171
