orthotech28
I have a 2018 journey gt awd. I had a engine mount go bad (front one under bumper) so i had some time and just replaced all of them, after started the car up I noticed a knocking sound, turned it off and yet again heard it. I drove a little while noticing the sound going over bumps every so often. I rechecked the bolts to all the mounts and noticed I had some loose ones on the rear mount (the one the connects the engine trans and ptu to the frame. Started it again noise is less over bumps up shifting and down shifting noise got better. So I get under it again just to make sure and I grab the propeller shaft and noticed the entire engine ptu and trans would move up and down like they were just held on by the engine and trans mount and I noticed tons of motor oil and the drivers side cv axle and top of trans, just had oil changed so I dunnonif oil cooler cracked but it's a decent amount but when I check the dip stick it's spot on. Any clues where I went wrong. I mean I can grab the propeller shaft and it all moves easily! And like I said I rechecked everything everything looks fine. Oh yeah I forgot to mention and heavy acceleration when shift the car bucks and pulls more so then usual. John/Horace
Sounds like sub frame mount bolts may have come loose. There are four of them, need to look up torque spec and check them. Need a torque wrench probably about 110 foot pounds spec. Odd thing but possible. Motor mounts usually a high milage repair, how many miles on vehicle? orthotech28
My luck is always unusual in the worst way lol. Thank you for youre suggestion tomorrow night I'll go out there and check. I was kinda at a loss for what else it could be. 39k for the milage, once I found the first one needing repair I inspected the others and they seemed to show wear and tear I had the money and time so I said screw it. In hindsight I should of did the one and been done with it lol
John/Horace
Make sure you installed the correct mounts as well. Parts guys can screw up sometimes, give wrong part. Aren’t you still in warranty. Was rubber torn on mount, can you post a pic of it.
