ZAC
Hi I noticed after starting my Journey and shifting in to drive I start to accelerate and just under 20km/h I hear valve of some sort closing shut. What is odd this only occurs after the vehicle has been turned on, if at a red light and I accelerate I do not hear the valve shutting. Any ideas? Took it to the dealer and the dealer said this was typical solenoid sound. I never heard this before in my Pontiac G6 and just want to find out if others have noticed this sound? Also wondering what is a solenoid and what does it do. Thanks,

I've read in the Owners Manual that the Electronic Stability Control system does a self-check when you first start rolling after having started the car, so I've always attributed that click to the self-test. Ok took awhile for me to remeber to take a look at where it makes the sound and it is just under 10 mph.
ARM-SXT
I know this may sound a bit obvious, but it's not the doors auto locking, is it?
tubmanaxton
A solenoid valve is an electromechanical valve for use with liquid or gas. The valve is controlled by an electric current through a solenoid coil. Solenoid valves may have two or more ports: in the case of a two-port valve the flow is switched on or off; in the case of a three-port valve, the outflow is switched between the two outlet ports. Multiple solenoid valves can be placed together on a manifold.Factory automation makes frequent use of solenoid valves. A computer device running a factory automation program to fill a container with some liquid can send a signal to the solenoid valve to open, allowing the container to fill, and then remove the signal to close the solenoid valve and stop the flow of liquid until the next container is in place. ______________ VLC Player
