cjustin15
My floor storage bins started rattling a few weeks back. It's driving me nuts. I can't find any info about it online. Anyone else experience this? Solutions? TIA!

Cgemaj
Mine behind the drivers seat is now doing this. Its driving me insane right now as I do not know how to stop it. I removed the insert and you can literally feel the rattle when you touch it as the car is moving.

No as I don’t have a jack or lift handy. It only happens when the car is moving at a speed higher then. 20 mph 2late4u
2late4u
all journeys have a jack in the storage compartment or just pull the front end up on some higher ground and look under it as the compartment is right on the left side floor of the journey or go by your local garage and ask them to put it on a lift and have them check it out, most wold do it for free or a small charge depends on where you live i guess...probally a cable come loose or something caught up under it if it just started making the noise Edited December 14, 2022 by 2late4u jkeaton
Summer Solstice
Look underneath the car, dead center. There is a silver colored heat shield that wraps over the exhaust and beneath the floor. If this comes loose, it will flap and rattle against the floor and sound like the storage bins are loose. It is held in place by 6 or 8 studs and nuts and can tear loose easily if something contacts it. It can be extremely loud and annoying. cjustin15
I am finally having it looked at on Tuesday. My son looked under and said it does look like the heat shield is loose. So we will see. Thanks for all the comments!
John/Horace
Common Journey issue. Heat shields are important for preventing possible fires if car parked in grassy area. Best to add gear clamps or stainless screws to keep them intact. jkeaton and cjustin15 1
