Sgt Beer Belly
Does anyone one know if the Navigation part is in the 8.4 inch screen, or is part of the actual radio receiver unit behind the AC control. Some scrap yards are selling the bezel with screen and say it has navigation and then there are sellers that sell the replacement screen and say it works with navigation. anyone know for sure ? Thanks
5rebel9
From what I understand the NAV is located in the radio module not the screen. I a little over a month, we'll be taking ownership of a '13RT model with the big screen but NOT NAV. The friend I get my cars thru says he's pretty sure he has a radio module WITH the nav stored away somewhere if I want to upgrade.. I'd rather upgrade with a BU CAMERA first, but for the '13 I believe the SCREEN needs to be changed with a newer year unit. Dodgems
The display is just that. A display. The nav is in the "radio" unit behind the heater controls. To get nav you need to upgrade to an RB5 "radio". The display stays the same. I am installing a factory backup cam but found an aftermarket one from emerald integration for $90 on ebay. It includes the wiring and adapter for the 8.4 radios. Backup cam does not have a module. The 8.4 nav and non nav are setup for it. You either tap into the connector or get a harness with an rca plug for the aftermarket ones. You will need to have the dealer reprogram the bcm, of get alfaobd and do it yourself. 2late4u, Sgt Beer Belly and larryl

That's what I thought, So I purchased the Radio receiver with Navigation from a 2016, and the AC controller with the split button off/ auto, couldn't find a good deal on the 8.4 Screen with the Bezel, so I purchased just the screen until I find a decent bezel. I too saw the backup camera from them on their website for $99 and it looked like a good option. New 2022 maps are $99 for the unit I think I might bite the bullet, unless there's a better way of loading fresh maps.

bramfrank
I no longer have a Journey (which is why I have my spare RB5 nav and my original RE2 non-nav 8.2" TGMs for sale), but I never had issues updating the mapping using the methods found here and elsewhere on the web - it IS a bit picky about the USB key you use, mind you. And to confirm what was posted above, yes, if you are adding a backup camera you DO have to get the sales code enabled for it to work. Navigation does NOT need activation, though the TGM (the radio/nav/touchscreen controller) requires an unlock code to make the new radio work in your vehicle. So I have a question... I have a 2012 Journey it had the smaller 4" display. I went on ebay and I purchased a 8.4" display, Auto Heater controller and the Radio(unit behind the heater controller). It was listed on Ebay that it was a Navigation unit and showed the pictures of the Phone and Nav icon on the screen. When I got it and installed it I dont have those on my screen (Phone & Nav icon). I made sure the numbers matched on the listing to what I got and they do. I have tried 3 "radios" so far and none have the nav icon. Am I missing something?? I dont have a back up camera or wheel controls for voice. I saw something about needing the TGM module but also confused because some say thats the radoio... HELP!!!!! Dodgems
Do you have the right antenna? You will need the sat capable antenna for navigation. Ours had it already. Did the 4" have sirius? If so you have the right antenna., If not you will need the antenna that has sat capability.

You don't get Bluetooth from the radio, that HASW a module, located under the dash and above the steering column. But unless you have right steering wheel and clockspring it won't do you much good - you also need the buttons. As to not seeing the navigation icon? You don't have a navigation radio.
