KyMoparMike
The windshield washers on my 2012 DJ SXT are working but the stream is weak - at best it comes up to about the top of the wipers. The rear seems to be working OK (although I suppose low pressure would be harder to notice there since the rear spray is in a downward direction). Front nozzles and the line from the left-front inner wheel well are OEM and are almost 1 year old. Nothing has been done to any of the rear components. My question is this: Assuming that the lines and nozzles for the front system are fine, can a problem with the pump itself cause low pressure on only one side? I've seen posts indicating that the pump runs in one direction for the front and the opposite direction for the rear. Is it possible that some kind of problem (gear, etc.) in the pump could be causing this? I assume a clogged line filter would affect both front and rear. 2late4u
i would first disconnect the line going to the front washers to see if you have weak pressure there if not then the washer nozzles are pluging up, if the flow is weak then i would try flushing out the washer bottle itself either by removing it or buy you a cheap fluid pump from harbor freight and remove the fluid and then refill the bottle several times to see if that helps with the pressure.. plenty of videos on youtube on how to remove the washer bottle if you go that route...also make sure you dont have any leaks in the washer hoses that might have went unnoticed thus causing weak pressure, from my experience the washer pumps are either good or bad at least on other older cars....good luck
5rebel9
Could also be a cracked washer hose{it's plastic}. Most likely spot would be near the driver side hood hinge. This situation showed up on the wife's '14 model. 2late4u
KyMoparMike
I appreciate the responses to my post but my question was really more specific: Given the design of the washer pump on these vehicles, is it possible for it to malfunction in such a way as to affect only one "side" of the device - that is, affect only the front or only the rear while leaving the other working properly? NOT USUALLY unless there was some accident damage done to it.Check the easy obvious stuff first. 2late4u

Yes, you can lose just front or back spray. Pump has two separate outputs, could switch hoses to get front working and leave back not working.
