Konan02011
Good afternoon i am looking for some help and wondering if anyone else has ever had the p0300 code. I own a 2009 2.4L dodge journey SE. It has 140K miles on the engine. I had a O2 sensor error code that i tried to fix with a new sensor. This did not fix it so i ended up replacing the Catalytic Converter. The car started to act up and would hesitate then check engine light would come on and would loss power occasionally stalling. It threw a camshaft sensor code so i replaced that. it then threw a crankshaft sensor code a week or so later so i replaced that. No it is throwing the p0300 code and i have replaced all spark plugs and coil packs, fuel pump and strainer, battery, and did a compression test. the results of the compression test were as follows. With 6 cranks of the engine Cylinder 1: 205, Cylinder 2: 205, Cylinder 3: 205, Cylinder 4: 205. These numbers seemed high so i ran it again allowing 10 cranks per cylinder. 1 came back at 225, 2 was 220, 3 was 220, 4 was 215. I am at a loss now the mechanic i had diagnose it as the fuel pump says that it seems like the PCM is bad to him. Anyone else have this issue? I am at the point of trying to get it to a dealership but fear driving it.
5rebel9
A rather tough problem being random multiple cylinder misfires. Sounds like you about did ALL you can do. BUT did you check the wire plugs and wiring to all those sensors you replaced? Also these motors are pretty particular for proper operation to O.E brand sensors and not cheap aftermarket one. TKN is an O.E. maker and found a good source parts brand. I would also clear any codes and try a short run/drive and see if anything more specific shows up. Good Luck and report back. Konan02011
All sensors came from either Advance auto zone or auto zone. All local mechanics are booked till next week. I have tried to drive it hoping it was bad gas or my air in the line from changing the fuel pump. It will run cold just fine and no light once it warms up so maybe 2 or minutes after cranking it starts with the stuttering/power loss, then the idle becomes super rough and will stall sometimes. I'm thinking about changing MAP sensor as its rather easy to get to.
John/Horace
It’s possibly a map sensor issue, but there should be codes showing up. They can be a wear item eventually. Good news is your compression is good, not an easy or cheap thing to fix. Cylinder Leak down test should have been checked too. Extra air coming in to intake can create random misfire problem.. I would replace intake manifold gasket first, not the expensive PCM. The main computer on cars rarely fail. Intake is a more logical cheaper guess. I can’t argue with oem parts for critical items, it is always the better choice. But money is tight every where now.
