voyager
Had the dreaded internal error code on my 2014 journey ABS module. I replaced it with a new one from Mopar parts giant and attempted to initialize it with an Autel scanner. It would not initialize nor complete the ABS bleed process. I did the ABS bleed procedure hoping that was the reason it would not initialize. I never broke loose any brake lines so didn't think I should have to but figured it wouldn't hurt. I had a factory recall on the cat converter so figured while they had it in to change that I would have them use their factory scanner to initialize the ABS module. Well they could not either and they said I should have changed both the module and the hydraulic control unit (which contains the ABS pump motor) at the same time. I had never heard that before in doing my research on the internal fault problems. They asked if my module was new or from a different vehicle. As far as I know the module was supposed to be new. Has anyone else had issues like this or any advice as to what step I should take. They want 1700.00 to fix it but I can get the parts for about 700 and do the work myself and save a thousand but I am questioning why the ABS pump motor would be bad too. When I did the ABS bleed procedure the ABS pump activated just fine to do the internal bleed process it just would not do all the system. It did the front but when it went to do the back it said something about a pressure sensor did not calibrate. If it was a problem with the scanner is there one that is recommended that has the ability to do the initialization correctly. The scanner I used was the Autel maxicheck pro. 2late4u
i also have been waiting for the abs module from the dealership to get back in stock, no luck yet has been 0on backorder for 6-7 months so far , other than the dash lights havent had anything i miss except the cruise control, also mine is to be repaired under warranty so that is the main reason wanting to wait on the dealership.... what recall is their on the cat converter, havent heard of that one???? voyager
Not sure the recall number. I originally went in for the ABS module recall but according to dodges records that recall had already been done on my car with the previous owner. They will only do one recall per vin. The dealers never seem to get the recall parts as fast as if you were paying for them. I am still curious as to why I would have to change both the module and the pump motor.
