Can Sirius SAT radio be added to RBZ radio that does not have SAT radio already?

Recommended Posts

I just purchased a 2010 Dodge Journey SE with added exterior and interior options. It has the safe and sound package. The radio ID is RBZ; I was under the impression that this model radio had Sirius SAT radio, but from what I can see, it does not. I see that the manual and online user guides show that it does. Are there multiple types of these RBZ radios? and if so, is there a kit to add Sirius to this radio I have or do I need to upgrade the radio altogether? Help, please!

I too have the safe and sound package with an RBZ radio, the documentation made it seem like it had Sirius, but once I got the car, to my surprise, it did not. My understanding is that it does not have the internals for Sirius.

My suggestion, which I intend to do once I have a bit of time is to buy the lockpick from coastaletech. From what I have read, it does a few things I like: It unlock DVD playing while driving, (why else would you want dvd player...) It enables the installation of a screen in the back, and also has RCA "in" cables, which would make a clean install of a Sirius adapter.

Please post if you find other alternatives!

I am still waiting on our Journey R/T to arrive, and until I have it in hand I guess I won't really know which radio

we will have in it.

We are getting an R/T with the Convenience Group II and no other added Audio or video options. One time

the dealer said it would have an RVZ Radio, and the next an REN Radio. Then I read someplace that there are

TWO versions of some of these radios and that the REN is a mid year change. So I don't know.

Part of me wants to be able to add a rear Video screen for those times when we travel with the grand kids.

I hope that will be easy enough to do,

Chris

My (bought in Canada) 2010 Journey R/T has a RBZ. It has Sirius (until the freeness expires anyway).

Convenience Group II

Rear seat video group

Safe and Sound Group

Now, if someone can tell me about some hacked interface upgrade with some better RBZ features, I'd be happy.

The interface for playing MP3s from the backseat unit is terrible. You can only see a list of track #s. No title. No artist. Things are definitely better in the front seat.

There are variations of the RBZ that do not have Sirius. Unfortunately there is no way to add it - much easier to replace the radio.
