JerryinIL
My Journey has an engine tick, especially when cold starting. I know that this can be common on cold starts. However, as time has gone on, it seems to be steady after the car is warmed up. Not sure if this can be a serious problem. I don't seem to have any other issues. Engine pickup is fine and trans is running fine. Read some suggestions about using oil conditioners, etc. Can anyone provide some insight? If you have the V6 there is a TSB and fix available at the dealer. Ours had a ticking sound while driving and turned out to be bad cams or something along those lines. 100% covered under warranty. The tick will get worse. Take it in and ask them to check the lifters but it will most likely need to spend the night so they can hear it at its worst in the am when it is cool. Good luck. wingit11
We just bought a used '09 SXT and it has a tick in the engine. Took it in and they think it is a noisy lifter. Will be scheduling it in to get it worked on soon. Will let you know what happens.
jasfrmn
I had my 09 in the shop with 9k miles with this issue...they replaced all rocker arms and shafts according to the paperwork. I do think it was fine for a while but the noise is back so I will see what they say when I leave it tomorrow for that and several other issues as I am now at 35K

kehsfam
Just had mine in for tie rod replacement under warranty, told them about noise in top or engine. They are ordering a new intake manifold under warranty. Three weeks, three visits to the dealership this car is a piece of junk. tmt
After reading the ticking noise problems listed on this forum' my husband and I were certain that the ticking we heard was going to be a real problem. our 2010 journey has a liitle over 40,000 miles on it. We were driving to California on vacation (2000 miles) and the ticking got VERY bad and at high speeds the car was bucking wildly. Because we were in the middle of no where on interstate 10, we kept driving to our final destination at a speed that didn't buck. We took the car to a local dodge dealer who ordered the parts (rocker arms), the parts came in and we left thee car for a day and a half for repairs. The ticking is GONE! The car is running great. This problem can be repaired and it was covered by the power train warranty.

Nice input! You're getting your problems done under warranty which is better than after it is expired so it can't be all that bad. EDIT: Hah, I just noticed I replied to an old post....LOL! Edited January 26, 2013 by Journey_SeXT
