Z24Dawg89
I just purchased my Journey last night! Its a 2009 SXT 3.5 - I have been shopping for a while and gathered lots of useful infor from this site. I noticed something when I put the pedal to the floor on my way home. I was going about 50 MPH and floored it to get to about 70 MPH. I was not impressed with the get up but its enough for what I need. However, when I let off the gas pedal, it took 1-2 seconds for the RPM's to calm down. Is this normal? It seemed borderline unsafe to me. Please let me know if this is typical or if I need to have it looked at. I purchased it used from a Ford dealership but it only has 32K miles so I can still have it looked at by my local Dodge dealership under the warranty. OddJob
The unit was probably still in a lower gear to give you the passing power and under hard accel depending on driving habits it might hold that until its sure power demand has dropped off. These trans do shift in a "unique way"
BUGS
I am told that these trannys (TCM) will 'remember' your driving habits and adjust the shift rpm accordingly. Perhaps the previous owner drove differently that you do and the tranny is just getting use to you.
