Tried to remove stick shifter knob...

Recommended Posts

I tried to remove the stick shifter knob. The middle chrome piece slides up. After that, I was stuck. There is no screws or anthing else hinting on what to do next. I even went to the deal and talked to the parts department. They pulled everything up on the computer, but they did not know what to do either. Any thoughts?

Not sure myself. I know in my 2010 Camaro 6 Speed it was a pull off deal. Grab it with two hands and pull straight off.

Darn near smacked myself in the forehead doing so. That works for that car, not sure if it'll work for the Journey.

I'd be very careful with it myself. I am sure there is more mechanism inside that console that I wouldn't want to mess up.

Yes, all you do is pull straight up and it will come off. I upgraded my shifter and that is how I got the old one off.

Do you have a picture of your new shifter installed?

Yes. Go to the photo gallery and look for the 2010 Journey SRT folder. There is 2 interior shots you can open and see. When I put the shifter in I painted the chrome bezel around it black, and put black plastic over the shaft to sport it up some.
