engine light on

If it is the "Check Engine" Light that is part of the OBDII system and a user can not reset it. You have to correct the problem

first and then allow the system to reset itself. These lights can be as simple a problem as the gas cap not being on tight

enough, or as complex as a engine misfire. At least have someone read the code and see what it could be. Many Auto Stores

provide these services.

I have the light on only twice and the reason being a flat battery.

It took a few miles (<20) of driving before it went out on its own.

Maybe this was after the canbus adjusted itself after false default settings.

Book says if its a constant light it may be ok but if its flashing do not drive as it may damage the exhaust system.
