Headlight relay/fuse problem - 2010 dodge journey SXT

The headlights on my 2010 dodge journey SXT are not working. When I turn them on they will flash on then go right back off. Same for high beam lights. All other lights on the car are working. All research I have done is pointing to faulty fuse/relay however when I look at my owners manual AND at the fuse box I am unable to locate the fuse or relay that is for the headlights. Has anyone else had this issue and how did you fix it? I am at a loss and really need this fixed asap!

Update - I have found out that the headlights do not have a fuse or relay and that they run off the engine control module. A mechanic in the family recommended to completely unplug the battery and touch the positive and negative together to reset the module in hopes that it will fix the issue. Can anyone give any thoughts??

I want to go ahead and note that we have tried replacing the bulbs, and tried replacing the light switch in the steering column and nothing has worked thus far. I’m at such a loss.

I have a 2010 dodge journey as well and I have those exact same issue, have you found out the problem?

since the4y only posted 2 times and then never came back and posted the fix for their problem we will never know, if they would reply back on the situation then others can learn from their problem,,you could do the hard reset they talked about doing but never came back to say if it helped or not you could check on doing that from videos on you tube for more info ,, it might work,,, its just like resetting your computer to fix a simple glitch

I am back to having this issue again. Whenever this issue arises usually tightening battery cables does the trick but my husband just went out there and did it and said they are tight. So not sure how else to fix the issue now. Any help is appreciated!!!!

and this is a decently new battery

first I would have the battery load checked at your local auto parts store and as well have them check the alt as well, Just wondering what's the age on a  decently new battery,,, journeys love a STRONG battery and clean connections,,,, Did you remove the battery cables and clean them real good with a wire battery post cleaner tool? I know its a pain in the ass to get to the battery, but I would do that before throwing parts at your journey also check the grounds at the engine and other spots  to be clean and tight

We have this issue as well and have for years. The lights will stop working intermittently for several weeks, then work for six months or a year before we have another  flare up. The fog lights always work, it only affects the regular lights and high beams.  We just got new headlights (the entire fixtures) as they were very cloudy, and a new switch for the steering column. According to OP, neither of these will fix the issue. We have also reset the TIPM before. I have taken it to an auto electrical specialist, but they won’t look at it unless we bring it in while the issue is happening. But it takes so long to get an appointment with them, that the issue has resolved by the time we can get it in.   I think our next move is to send the TIPM to a specialist who can rebuild it.

If anyone has found a fix in the meantime, let me know. Our 16 year old is the primary driver, so we have to go rescue whenever it happens.

Posting again because I still haven’t found the issue.. sorry to keep you hanging. I’m getting frustrated because my lights now are now not working more than they are. And with the weather changing and sunset coming earlier it is very inconvenient. If anyone has any tips please let me know.

my battery is less than a year old but I will have it looked into as well as the alternator as previous commenter suggested. Thanks!

okay,

That fixed Krishelle's DJ.

So on the 2010 DJ, There is no separate light switch.

Everything is on the turn signal switch on the steering column.

Have you been able to locate a fuse or relays under the hood or interior fuse box?

Need to get a copy of the correct 2010 wiring diagram. For all lighting systems.

Ask a shop if they would get them for you.

My information is for a 16 DJ.
