5150redhot
Ok so 1st off lat me say this, I'm a 44 yr old woman with limited mechanical education. I completed the small engine course in prison successfully, never worked in that field and I've had several mechanical boyfriends/friends over the years that I watched &/or helped. That being said I'm also fairly bright, I'm a hands-on learner & like to fix my own stuff, so I tend to just go for it. However I need help, before I kill my car-if I haven't already. I will start at the beginning first things first I was driving down the road. My car started beeping. I looked at the dash panel & did not recognize the icon. Then my car pegged out red overheated so I pulled over. That's what started all of it. I waited for it to cool down a little, then added water while it was running, then tried to drive home. 2 -3 blocks later it happened again so I pulled into a gas station. With it still running, I put water in noticed. That time the water was gushing out. Not from the radiator from a little further back. Where it ended up being the oil cooler. I did not realize that it's time. It took me four stops to get home and it was only about a mile and a half. So I began taking the car apart the next day. Took it all the way down to the oil cooler Before finding the leak of the water. On the right side of the oil cooler where the cool at host connects to it, water was cashing out when I pulled the hose off. I saw that the lip that the hose connects to was broken and on the right side of the oil cooler, the 3 holes that have the covers one wasn't on when I removed the oil cooler completely out of the car. I found the cover underneath it in the engine Valley.. So I ordered a replacement part. Put it backen. I changed my oil but the car all back together started it & everything seemed fine, drove for 2 days. 2nd day, my engine oil pressure was up to 96. When I looked under there I was actually leaking oil into the engine valley again. So I took it a part again. I didn't see any leaks, didn't see any cracks. That city halls started re searching found out. Maybe I should bleed the coolant fine. Also noticed my plugs. They were connected to my Knox and serve my oil pressure. All my plugs, we're in bad shape. They had been sitting in the oil and water. Coolant mixture a little too long and the insulation was just sledging. Right off The Wire, the plugs were filled with water and oil. So I took the harness off. Dried t all out. Clean it with alcohol, let it sit and dry, then put dialectical Greece in there and and reconnected. This time I forgot to tighten the hose plug so when I started the water pump kicked on water came out of the hose and filled. The engine Valley. Agai turned the car off. I had almost given up so I went to bed . I realized I didn't tighten the hose clamp so the next day I broke it down again. Tightened up the hose clamp. Put it all back together and try to start it this time. It made a click seem like it shortened out. Everything went black and turned off. And that's when I realized I forgot to get the water out of the engine valley from the night before. So the next step was I broke it all back down. Got all the water out of the engine Valley connected to it all all back together. Tighten the hose clamp and now it don't know what to do. I'm looking at the fuses. Can't really tell if they're popped odon't know if only the sensors went out. I'm at a standstill. I don't know what to do. Does anybody know what could be the reason for this or how to help? Mcgusto82
There more fuses in the passenger foot well. Try looking there for a busted fuse. fyi, I had the same situation with a blown oil coolant. Same multiple stops to get home. I was able to change out the cooler with no issues though. Thank God
John/Horace
What voltage is the battery showing. Put a charger on it or try jump starting the car. These push button start set ups need a good strong battery or they won’t try to start. If battery good, yeah check fuses. John/Horace
Have you put a wrench on crank pulley bolt and tried to manually rotate engine? This is an aluminum engine block and heads with c.i. liners. Not as tuff as cast iron engines. Hoping thats not the problem.
