Journey stalling won't start

Recommended Posts

My journey starts and runs great, when it wants to. Well be going down the road and out of nowhere, it will die. Sometimes it'll start right back up, others longer. Got stuck in a parking lot for 2 hours. When it dies, the brake pedal gets hard to push. Then I do a reset by pressing the button 5 times let the. Meters go up n down. Then hold brake, and start. That works sometimes, mainly just waiting for a bit will work. Seems to be no matter what I replace, problems still exist. Every day. Oh and sometimes when it starts back up, it will be in limp mode. Turn it off and on, it could start right back up into normal mode or go into limp mode again. Can you please please help me with this headache?

We're sorry to hear of your vehicle concerns, Red. We understand how frustrating the above can be. Our team would like to look into this for you. If possible, please provide the year, make, and model of your vehicle. Also, have you brought this to the attention of a certified dealership for hands-on servicing? Any information is appreciated as we work to resolve this.

^^^ What they said.

Other than that, start by scanning for codes. If you are replacing parts, you can use a scanner, and they are inexpensive. If you are replacing multiple parts, it is likely cheaper to pay for a proper diagnostic and know exactly what the problem is.

It is 2014 dodge journey SE. basic model. No I have not brought it in to a certified mechanic. I put the code reader on it and I got misfire codes and emissions codes. So I changed the spark plugs, and the O2 sensors. Still having issues. In fact today it wouldn't start at 10 a.m. until 2:30 pm. And it fired right up , like a champ. Like nothing was even wrong. I don't get it. Could it be a grounding issue? I'm going to check the battery connections, see if everything is clean and tight. Any recommendations?

I assume you have the 2.4 eng, when you changed the plugs I hope you used the OEM   (  NGK V-Power Spark Plug ZFR5F-11) as they are the best and cheapest for the 2.4,you have ground straps that could be going bad or not making correct connections this info you can find on YouTube for the location on them, misfires can also be caused by the coils going bad which cly did it show for the misfire and switch out to a different plug to see if the code moves to that plug,,also check the connectors on the coils and the wires that connect to them to make sure they are clean and no shorts or bares spots, also be a great time to rub it by auto zone or another part stores to have the battery checked and also the alt to see if it is working correctly as well

WAG….crank  position sensor. . Doesn’t always store a code with quick shut downs.  It’s a wear item, if over a 100k miles I just change them out, heat and vibration wear them out.
