Origdogfish
New to me 2018 Journey GT. Recirc Switch needs to be turned on every time I start the car. The AC switch stays on... but after some time I notice the car is not getting any cooler. I look down and see that Recirc is off and I have to manually turn it on again. Very annoying. Is this normal..? Other than that I love the car, and if this is the most annoying thing I have to put up with... oh well.
John/Horace
On ac setting mine keeps the recirc setting. On heat I believe it doesn’t. When car is shut off after a few seconds you will hear a noise in dash. The car automatically opens fresh air vent to the outside, for about 45 seconds. Then closes it again. Prevents mold build up in hvac vents. You can see it do this if you remove the cabin air filter on passenger front dash, behind glove box opening. Good idea to change this filter every year or two. Fresh air recirc servo motor in dash is located on right side of housing where the cabin filter slides in. If windshield has winter fogging issues. It’s this servo that needs replacing. Not expensive, but awkward to swap out.
2late4u
I have been keeping an eye on this issue over the last month as I hardly ever use the rec switch, I have noticed most of the time it does switch to the off position after the journey has been shut off for a while and also it stays on as well, So I have no idea why it is doing that
Dean H
2016 DJ Same thing for mine. 2L4U. What about the Max AC button on the touch screen? It's always 100% cold with recirculation on.

BUT that year uses R1234yf refrigerant, and is a bit more finicky a system than the earlier R134a systems. Autotemp controls may come into play on the recirc shutting off after long drive, due to cabin temp sensor reading desired set coldness OR to prevent icing of the evaporator in the HVAC box inside the dash. Idiosyncrasies of this new refrigerant are still being discovered and being learned of how to deal with them. Personally I don't use "recirc" for extended time of driving with any of my 4 R134a system autos. I use it to get cooler quicker and then switch to outside air draw. It would be nice to hear back from you on how your ride is working out since your last posting. John/Horace

Origdogfish
No joy... I haven't changed anything and therefore nothing is fixed. I can live with it. If I don't turn it on when I start the car in a few minutes I will wonder why it is still so hot... then I wake-up and push the switch. The car is training me... The car is training me... you mention that after a few minutes it's still warm,,I live in Alabama and it is around 85-90 degrees or higher most of the time and I have no problems with the journeys ac while it is in normal mode, either you like it freezing all the time or you might want to have the A C refrigerant checked to see if you have a problem with your system

If I don't turn it on when I start the car in a few minutes I will wonder why it is still so hot... then I wake-up and push the switch. The car is training me... It's been a VERY LONG TIME since I was located in coastal North Carolina serving in the Marine Corps to remember how I would set my A/C controls in that area. I've been just south of Buffalo,NY for the last 45 years and until recently did not even care if A/C was even functional. One of my 3 Journeys has auto temp and my Buick also{ A bit different in operation}, the other 2 journeys have manual set temp controls. But I've checked them each and found on straight DASH vent position, the recirc button WILL stay for the next start up there. I can't speak yet for other vent outlet positions. Yes each car make has a little twist of operation of systems that car and drivers need to learn of each other! Dodge has always been "different" than most other makes and "training the drivers is often required of our cars.....LOL Learn and ENJOY your newer Journey! Dean H
2016 DJ 130k Use the Max AC button on the climate touch screen. This button is only on the touch screen. This sets the temp to full cold, air inside recirculation and fan on high. It holds these settings. When the vehicle is off, then turned on again. I did it today.
