Kenny G
Hello, I have a 2016 Journey Crossroad and recently both the ABS and TCL lights came on together and after a bit of driving both turned off together. After a few more times of this happening I have noticed a rapid ticking noise (like a relay or electrical connector) prior to both lights coming on. But now when they come on I get a physical shaking in the brake pedal as well as a loud grinding noise. This noise and shake starts and stops about 3 times when coming to a slow stop. It only seems to happen during a slow, 25 mph or less, stop. And the shaking and noise isn't every time the lights come on. Any suggestions on what to check or replace? No check engine light so far. Thanks in advance
2late4u
well have you checked the brakes to see what shape they are in? the abs light, and the traction control lights are usually a symptom the abs pump could be starting to go bad I would assume, I have both those lights plus the brake light stays on most of the time but no braking problems or noise also I have the 2200-49 code which means I have an internal failure on my abs module and the part is no longer being made of has been on backorder for over 2 yrs now ( funny thing is it still works during the hot months and then only occasionally) HAVE had your journey scanned, it will have to be a high quality as most cheap scanners cant check the abs systems and of course it will have to be scanned when the lights are lit up as well
Kenny G
The brake pads are in good shape. The car has not been scanned since no lights would stay on. The ABS and TCL lights do not stay on long enough to drive somewhere to get it checked. Would a mechanic shop have a high level scanner for that or would I need to take it to the dealer? A GOOD independant shop would have a "high level" scanner that will access all codes and HISTORY of fault activation of such things as ABS/traction control. I have a OBDLINKMX+ remote "dongle" and the accompanying program on my tablet that will do the same after I free downloaded "enhanced features" to the basic program that came with the "dongle". Cost me about $60. for that, and as I did not have a tablet or smart phone... another $175 for an android based tablet. Works great for these type of pesky problems.
