3.6 Funky air intake tubes- modifications.

Recommended Posts

First modification, that I did to my DJ.

The air intakes funky tubes.

My guess is they did something to quiet the intake noise ?

like a clean look in the engine

bay.

It was seriously messy cutting and grinding.

I found rubber plugs on eBay,

that were perfect for the job.

Snorkel intake piece from air filter box to under hood.

Modified painted.

Painted with Rust-Oleum bed liner.  Light textured surface and sticks better than paint.

Painted the air filter box.

One reason, I chose to do this

is that intact.  The stock tubes

had the coolest intake air temperature.

With just the snorkel piece removed. The intake air temps

ran around 10 to 12 degrees hotter.

I had bought a " cold air intake" system.

It only would have been the hottest air intake system.

So no!

I can actually access the transmission dipstick tube now!
