Steve75
My vent is stuck in the defrost position. The adjustment for temp and zones work just fine, so it's not a blend door issue. I'm trying to find the location of the mode door actuator but everything I search for comes back to the blend door actuator. I don't hear any clicking and, for a while, it would reset it self to the dash vent position after the car was off for awhile. Now, though, it is completely stuck and will not change, even after disconnecting the battery overnight. Rear vents work fine. Any help on the location of the Mode Door actuator would be much appreciated...as well as any tips for replacing it.

Steve75
I Googled it and also watched several YouTube videos, but they all show the blend door actuator (which controls the heat/cold), not the mode door (which changes which vents the air comes out of) so I just wanted to make sure I was looking in the right area before taking stuff apart. But if they're all in the same area, for the most part, I'll check under the passanger side. Thanks for this video. It's exactly what I needed, and couldn't find. Looks like this actuator is the easies one to change out! Edited July 19 by Steve75 2late4u
2late4u
as added protection on my temp controls on both sides I don't leave them turned all the way to hot or cold, as sometimes they seem to stick in that position, at least that has happened to my journey, so it seems to help doing this

Steve75
Thanks so much. I'll give it a shot and see what happens. It's the wrong time of year to not have these right vents working. 2late4u

I disconnect/reconnected the wire connector, then tapped on it with a screwdriver...nothing happened but then when I switched through the settings for the vents and came back to the chest/dash vents they kicked on. So sounds like it was just stuck. Thanks for the advice! I still have a replacement on order in case it keeps happening, but at least for now it's an easy/quick fix. Really appreciate it. Really appreciate it. a lot of people have said the aftermarket actuators don't last a long time so its best to go with OEM and if you have to install a new one some need to be recalibrated if not installed in the correct position...just a heads up
