Scode68 Posted January 6, 2011 Report Share Posted January 6, 2011 Is there some kind of special procedure to back or the rear caliper pistons due to the way the parking brake is? Not up on these Doge cars but shouldn't I be able to just use a large C-clamp to back the piston off so that I can install new pads? Maybe they are frozen? The piston looks like it is aluminum and not phenolic like the front pistons. This could be part of the reason behind replacing the front rotors and pads. I used a caliber bolt to place in the pliers and it properly spaces the ends of the ends of the pliers to the correct distance of the piston slots.
