2011 Dodge Journey --- NO dash lights, steering wheel buttons, instrument clusters, headlights, or turn signals.

Recommended Posts

Howdy there! My girlfriend's vehicle is a 2011 Dodge Journey, and her father is a very frustrated GM-certified mechanic who cannot seem to solve this problem. The radio works, and the hazards work, but there's nothing working on the dash, instrument clusters, or steering wheel buttons, no turn signals or headlights, and the wipers won't shut off unless the fuse is removed. He has tried replacing the TIPM and is too stubborn to take it to Dodge because they want a 250$ diagnostic fee, and his pride would be wounded because he's been working on all sorts of vehicles for the past 30 years. My girlfriend doesn't work so she cannot buy a new vehicle--this one was a gift in itself--and she can't even pay for her damn parts, so her father is doing it for her--meaning she also can't pay for the diag fee.

I'm thinking that maybe it's a wiring harness, if not a faulty TIPM replacement, but I have not a clue. ANY HELP WOULD BE APPREICATED.

I'm just here trying to help him out, as a Ford mechanic apprentice. All he and I know about Chrysler is that it's a lot of problems.

As with GM, Ford MOPAR and any other vehicle make.... CLEAN the GROUNDS{-} at the drivers side strut tower nice and clean along with the wire eyelet ends, and then coat with DIELECTRIC GREASE on reassembly.

Next step would be to remove the TIPM and check the condition of all those wires underneath it. Yes you will have to remove the base that the TIPM mounts to in order to do this.

Keep us posted as to any progress.

5rebel9 is right on spot with cleaning and checking all the grounds as dodges are bad with them especially  up north with all the salt they use,,,also I watch South main auto he is up in the New York area and this kind of problem is usually a wire corroded or broken causing a lot of different problems but mostly with the grounds at the frame and other spots
