Fender liner loose

When driving I kept hearing a noise.

I found the problem.

The passenger fender liner is loose. I can not tell if the fastener is missing. (Probably is)

Not sure if the fender or the wheel (tire) needs to removed to fix it.

Either way I do do have the ability to do either. Nor the parts to fix it.

 

Should I just take it to a Dodge dealer or maybe a local body shop?

You can do this.

 

What holds the liner and most of the plastic parts to the vehicle.

 

Is plastic trim push pins.

 

Any type of push pin that fits the hole. Will work.

 

This kit below has both kinds either type that fits securely works.

The kit also includes the removal tools.

 

Just get a light to see in the fender well. Turn the tire until you can find the hole.

I went out to look at it. (Good thing it is nice outside)

Even if I did have a trim push pin there is no way to reach behind the liner to keep it place while I

attach the push pin.

Any other ideas will be welcomed.

well,,, then take it to a body shop or your local garage anyone can fix this in just a couple of minutes,stay away from the dealership for this repair

The problem is that the fender liner piece is on wrong.

 

It should be sitting on that plastic strip on the fender. Not behind it.

So push pins won't work correctly.

 

To fix it, remove that small separate piece of the fender liner and place it over the fender strip that the push pins clip into.

I just went out there and checked each liner.

All of them (liners) are behind the "L" bend of the fender. (Just like the pictures show)

I just checked my front  passenger fender and it is done the same same as the picture that is posted with the silver or colors part showing not the black liner.that said you can just insert the correct push pin Thur the front  hole and it will go Thur the black fender liner and then you continual to push the locking pin all the way flush and it WILL lock the liner into place you don't need to hold it from the back side IF you are using the correct t size push pin.......that said all the fender liners we have on our journeys do NOT really fit tight and it is a wonder they don't cause a lot of extra noise I have considered going around all 4 wheel wells of my journey and use some metal screws and screw the plastic panels together to see if it would make the journey quieter ,BUT since I was to lazy to do it and now at 72 yrs old my hearing has went to chit ,,,i am not worried about it anymore as  we don't even turn our radio when we drive anymore....LOL             ALSO your local parts store probably wont have this color push pin that you will need most of them all come in BLACK of course if they have one that fits you could always just paint it with some paint to match or go to your local dealership and show them this picture and they will sell you that pin if they can get it but it will be EXPENSIVE for just the one pin

At 73 it is hard to get up and down to fix things like this.

I will stop by a local body shop to see if they fix it and at what cost.

Even if it black, at least it will not make any noise.

Just an observation.

Doing it the way they did sure makes it tough to do your own repairs.
