valnjan
We have a 2010 Dodge Journey plain Jane 4 cylinder. Great little car for what we use it for. The problem I have is that it will do a hard shift at slow speed....maybe 2nd to 3rd or 3rd to 4th (hard to tell) on average once every 3 weeks. And when I say hard shift I mean hard.....clunk hard. The dealer keeps telling me that there is nothing recorded on the computer, so there is nothing they can do. However I am suspicious that maybe hard shifts are not even supposed to show up on the computer and that they are using that as a B S excuse to send me away. Does anybody out there have enough knowledge in this area to comment?????
oneframe
I experience a hard shift on my Journey once in a while. Chrysler/Dodge has poor engineering in this aspect and this will be my last Dodge. That said, my previous vehicle had a failing transmission and nothing was being recorded in the electronic module so they didn't believe me. I insisted on the shop foreman to take it out on a test drive with me to prove the occurrence and they worked from there. Out of hundreds of similar vehicles they handle, only you know the exact behaviour of your vehicle. Take a test drive with them no matter how far you have to drive to let them experience what you're experiencing. At least it's now on record when that happens. roxypr2001
Hi.. I too was feeling hard shifts but when i would put it into gear..it felt like the whole engine was going to fall... then i kept hearing a noise thru the radio as i would accelerate etc. I took it to the dealer to have the extended warranty service on the front rotors (had to pay a $100 deductible fee) cause I was just over 12,000 miles. I told them to check the transmission and sure enough they said that i needed a new transmission. WOW.... Journey SXT 2010

Are there still occasional hard shifts?

I'm still waiting for the transmission to get in. I will keep you posted.
Steelrain10
WOW! My plain Jane shifts hard every once in a while too. I guess I will have them check it out as well. This is my first brand new car I have ever purchased and I am so disappointed with what I have been reading. At 1700 miles the rotors & brake pads were replaced and now at 9000 miles the brakes are squealing again. I guess we need to stay on it. I never expected this with a new car.
