Golfguyyyy
Hi all..... nice bd. you have going. Like a community here :>) OK so I have been looking at 5 or 6 diff vehicles and drove the 2011 Espress - verrrry nice, even w/ the 2.4L... sure no power house but do like it. Regarding the 4 speed automatic in it - might you know if it has been around / proven for awhile now? You know, is it kind of a tank, haha. Think I read its been around since at least 2007 in its current upgraded form. I know all about the 2.4L "world engine", been reading up on it and drove the Mitsu Outlander, the Hyundai and the Kia, oh and the Jeep Patriot yesterday. Like that engine. I would probably buy the jeep if it had the 4 spd trans, but it has a CVT, which after reading people's problem comments, I just cannot trust at this point., hence the inquiry as to the reliability of this Journey Express 4 speed automatic transmission. Any info is greatly appreciated. Regards, Golf :>)
zmttoxics
My mom and a friend of mine have the Patriot, and I drove a caliber for a while, the cvt isn't bad. No idea on the 4 speed though. Personally, go for the V6 man, its worth it.

Thanks zmt for the CVT info.... good to know they had no issues w/the CVT - good for them :>) Same with a buddy that has a 2007 Pat. May revisit it, but DO like the Journey. Regards. 2011mainmango
currently our family does have 2.4 liter 2010 journey se. The engine and transmission so far have been flawless, accounting we've put over 30k on the journey in a year. so the engine and transmission are indestructible(in my experiences). If you're looking for a safe car that has many cool features standard like evic, esp, abs, traction, the journey i think is the best value on the market in terms of that spectrum. and the fit and finish of 2011 is top notch. if you're on a budget, get the 2.4, but don't expect any fun driving, just a car to drive. but if you got a few k more, and you get the v6, you get bigger wheels standard and the new fascias and 260 ft lbs in your disposal. (hp just keeps a car moving, torque is what gets it going.!!!). We are replacing our 2010 journey se, with a 2011 mango tango mainstreet, very excited to get the car. regarding the 4 speed, it is very unpredictable, the downshifting is a bit weird, but in overall driving you won't notice a whole bunch, but the transmission and engine are a bit noisy, so be ready for that. glad that i could help, i just love cars especially chargers. Saltydog
Welcome! As others have said, the 2.4 and 4speed Auto are very reliable pair! My mom n' law has a 07' Sebring with this combo and no issue at 70k miles!
