Derekmclain9
Anybody with a 2011 test out how accurate the DTE calculator is.
drb227
Personally, I think it is pessimistic. The problem is, it stops counting down the kms after a certain point and just says low fuel. I wish it would just keep counting down the kms, like my wife's Fusion. I once waited until my gas guage was on the E for a good bit before filling up and I still had 8 litres of gas left. Armendegga
The other thing I noticed is that by default when you fill up, it only shows that there is around 550 kms or something like that (even if highway driving)... so it just sits there until your gas drops, and then will start calculating. Derekmclain9
Mine didnt do that it would start out at like 780km or something like that.
Armendegga
Interesting, I wonder why it's doing it to me. Oh well, not a huge problem really. Hopefully when I get the update to fix the EVIC defaulting to MPH it will take care of that.
Draver17
I find that thing makes no sense. Depending how you drive, it changes. At some point I had 100kms left and after a minute or two I had 80-something! Plus that low-fuel vs showing actual DTE sucks!
Derekmclain9
yeah the low fuel that starts with like 45 km left is pretty stupid and lots of vehicles do that.
MarineCorpsSki
I have the 11 Mainstreet. I find that the Distance to empty ticks down to about 35 miles, then it says low fuel, thing is, I wont be near the e line, I will drive to the e-line and fill the tank- past the auto stop and up the filler tube. I can still only get 17 gallons in and it doesn't hit the Full line. I plan on taking it back to get this fixed. It is annoying not being able to rely, even slightly on the gauge or distance to empty reading.
drb227
Not sure there is much that can be done to fix this. I have the same issue, as I suspect would everyone else. As I said earlier in this thread, I've driven my Crew with my gas gauge on the E for a while and still only managed to get 70 litres into the 78 litre tank. The gas gauge is very pessimistic and as a result, so is the DTE calculation.
JediAmy
Yeah, once the low fuel comes on, the DTE disappears. I just flip it over to the trip odometer and gauge it from there. Once you know your average miles on a tank, it is no problem. It's a pain, none-the-less.
Armendegga
One thing that was nice with the dodge sx 2.0 (neon) was the gas light would come on when you were low, but would then flash at you when you were extreme low (4L left I think). Would be nice of the Journey had the same.
