JOEK
I am having an odd problem with my Journey. When I fuel the vehicle the pump stops (as though the tank were full) after about 3 gallons have pumped when the pump is running at a high rate or after about 5 gallons at a slower rate. I find I have to insert the pump nozzle no more than 1-2 inches and hold onto the nozzle in order to keep the fuel flowing. Have any members had similar experiences? Thanks, JOEK
mrlux
That is common in some cars. Usually the filler pipe has a tight bend going down to the tank. If you run the nozzle wide open the fuel hits the bend and backs up in the nozzle therefore causing the auto shutoff feature to stop the fuel. drozz
I have the very same issue with my Journey happens most times at the pumps up here in Canada. The odd thing is, when i drove down to Boston, we filled up along the I90 and it didn't happen there. I found the pipe fit better into the hole on those pumps and it didn't cause it to shut off early.
SaskGuy
I have had a few vehicles that are like that. I find that with the Journey, I only insert the nozzle about 2/3 of the way.
EMSBronco
I see this at some gas stations, but not others. I don't know whether it's due to the speed of the pumps or what.
drb227
I've been having this issue as well. Every fill up, I would try to squeeze as much gas in as possible. Usually, the gas gauge needle would barely make it to the F. Sometimes, it would stop just before the F. Today I tried an experiment. I went as slow as possible while filling up, I mean really slow. That worked! The needle went past the F on the gas gauge. It has never done that since I bought the Journey. Must be a very restrictive fuel filler pipe.
