bramfrank
Got my new ride on Monday. Stuck in an 8 Gig memory stick and the radio only sees the first 256 files . . do I need to put the songs in a subdirectory? Break them up into directories of 256 songs max each? The manual is useless. It doesn't say anything and it doesn't diferentiate between standard features and options Edited August 25, 2011 by bramfrank
Armendegga
I don't believe there is a limit as far as I know. Connecting my iPhone via USB sees all the songs, and I believe there are others who use a USB stick and it sees all their songs as well. bramfrank
I moved my music into a folder on the key - still stuck at 256 songs - and the folder isn't browseable except alphabetically. Unacceptable.
Destination
mine was not seeing any MP3 files that began with a number like 01 (song title). I renamed all the files like that and it's fixed. It sees those files now that the number is removed. osibiri
bramfrank
I don't have any files that start with '0' - however it clearly only reads the first 255 of them - and they're alphabetic - so I get only the 'A' and 'B' songs and those that start with a digit. bramfrank
Now I'm really unhappy . . . the dealer called the tech line and was told that 'there is no hard drive and so it can't handle many songs'. Now THAT is a crock - there is an 8 Gig block of memory sitting in my USB key - and the songs sit there. Any limitations, should there really be any are due to poor coding. It also doesn't forgive the impact that playing USB-based MP3s has on the controls and touchscreen of my 4.3 This is simply unacceptable. It ain't over yet. Maybe Dodge wants to buy me an iPod? ChrisPollard
My iPod Touch works GREAT with the 4.3. I love that it's hidden out of the way. Haven't tried a USB stick though. Honestly, I'd never even thought of doing that. Might be a test for another day.
Destination
the only problem I have with using a USB stick is that the light on the stick stays lit even when the car is off.
generaltso
the only problem I have with using a USB stick is that the light on the stick stays lit even when the car is off. That's weird. Does an iPod stay on too when plugged into the USB port with the car off?
ChrisPollard
Not that I'm aware of. I usually leave my iPod plugged in, inside the console, and it makes the little power up sound (like when you plug it into a wall charger) every time I start the ignition. Although, worst case, it would only use power until the iPod finishes charging.

Right after any door is open, I can hear my iPod's power chirp. Not sure how long it stays on after the door is closed again.
ChrisPollard
That's kind of odd. The port is supposed to be tied to the ignition, and only power on in Acc or Run. I just wish the 12v accessory port inside the console was wired to the ignition instead of live all the time - then I could plug my Sirius in there, instead of having to run the power cord out to the dash. generaltso
I moved my music into a folder on the key - still stuck at 256 songs - and the folder isn't browseable except alphabetically. Unacceptable. For what it's worth, I just tried an SD card for the first time. All 3000+ songs on the card seem to be accessible.
bramfrank
You have the larger screen though, right?
generaltso
You have the larger screen though, right? Yeah, I have the 8.4, so I guess it doesn't really prove anything. It seems weird that they would use different media logic for the 8.4 and 4.3, but entirely possible.
