SaskGuy
About 10 years ago, I ran over a big chunk of wood on the highway. My sidewall looked very similar. Looks VERY close to blowing out. My advice is to get a new tire... Quick...
Armendegga
That's still holding air right now?! Like SaskGuy said - Get a new tire... Quick! Hitting a pothole or something could cause the tire to blow out really easily with a crack like that.
chadb1
I would get a new tire. With AWD if you have AWD, You need all the tires have the same amount of tread or you will mess it up. Also you could have a blowout and that is not fun!
ChrisPollard
I would have said, judging by that big round dirt imprint right at the center of that rip, something nailed that sidewall. It is NOT a dry rot crack. If it's not flat, I'm amazed.
jst216
I would suggest saving your money on buying just one tire and get all new four with a new car, I suggest Ford or GM. As soon as I can, I will be getting rid of mine. b1pig
damage from either a curb or an object in road.... maybe a pothole. could be anything. i had a similar cut on the sidewall of my jeep's tire. it was a BFG M/T on my Rubicon, and they aren't cheap. i swapped it for my spare and kept the cut tire. never had to run it. never lost air, either. the cut will look bad. usually there are two sidewall plies. if it didnt cut the first ply, it would likely be ok for a short period. if it cut one of the plies, i'd immediately swap the spare and get it replaced. symbasys
That's definitely impact damage. Like the others have said, get it replaced right away. There is no way to repair that kind of damage.
humansoul
You might also want to check your other tires; it looks like your tires have been deflated and caused that soft 'orange' like effect that is common on tires not inflated properly. I don't believe your tires are made in Vietnam, since Kuhmo does not have a manufacturing facility in that country. They do however have one in Macon, GA however; most Solus tires are manufacturered in their home country of Korea.
