rawdodge
hi everybody, i have a 2009 dodge journey R/T AWD .... nice looking car i just wish it didn't have problems the car is barely driven since we got it, we bought it in AUG 2008, one of the first ones to roll out, right now its sitting at 48000kms and i must say ive done 2 Brakes Jobs already front and rear now there was a very weird shuddering problem and ive taken it to the dealer 2 times already. 1st time they told me my tires are bad.... got new tires (19" tires the expensive ones), didn't fix the problem it actually got worse, then the 2nd time i complained because now im out $1000 for tires...they kept the car for two days and called the following day to tell me that my TORQUE CONVERTER was bad . thank god its under warranty, i hope the problem gets fixed, have to pick it up around 5pm thanks
MattStoddard
I just took my 09 SXT AWD in for a hesitation at 45-55mph, a hum and/or whine (they kept telling me it was injector noise, for over a year and a half), then would jerk at low speeds. I got it back today after they replaced the transfer case. The noise is gone, but still acting funny. 41k miles, brakes and rotors front and read at 25k miles, 5 radios, and the rear monitor replaced. Eric Meyers
Tell me about it. I bought my '09 used last summer and I've had nothing but problems with it. It's a nice vehicle, but this is becoming not worth it. Almost immediately after I bought it, I had to put brand new brakes and rotors all the way around. Had a fun time dealing with Dodge on that one. It's a certified vehicle, too! Then a couple months later the PTO (AWD) unit went out. That was awesome. Now I've got the shudder from 50mph-55mph AND it's burning oil like a middle ages lantern. This is not good. Ooh, and I've also got this really nasty smell coming from the vents when the defrost kicks in. It's terrible. It smells like an old basement cellar, but with a burning dust smell mixed in. This is turning out to be an absolute nightmare of a car. Edited February 9, 2012 by Eric Meyers
dfont
We have a 2010 R/T AWD with 24,000 miles. Just recently it has started acting up. Once in a while in the morning when it is still cold 20-40F and the engine is not warmed up it will shudder when accelerating 50-60mph and the engine light will come on and then go off, it repeated it self the last time a couple of times, we drove straight to the dealer and didn't shut it off. There was no code in the computer. This has happened twice this week ! It doesn't do it all the time, and with no code stored the dealer can't tell whats wrong. Bubsy1106
We have an 2012 SXT , we bought it back in april....I don't have problems with shuddering while accelerating, but coming to a stop. It seems to do it at around 28 mph and 18 mph. We have't taken it in yet, thinking it needed "break in " time...still doing it....any ideas? leaffan766
Our 2010 shuddered but our engine light also came on. 25000 Kms and they had to rebuild the engine
jeffry1029
My 2012 R/T has had the shuttering issue since I got it. It has been in the shop 4 days out of the 10 I have owned it. Last time I also took it in for the ac blowing warm when I am sitting. Dealership said it was because I had dark color interior. How funny is that. anyway the dealership now has a Chrysler rep in house to try and diagnose the shuttering issue as they are getting many complaints about this. I will let you know what they say. We bought a 2012 SXT in March 2012 and we also started having issues with the transmission shuddering when coming to a stop. While the dealership was driving it around to figure out the issue it shuddered for them while accelerating. They have now had the car for 3 weeks, going back and forth with Chrylser about it. Chyrsler told them to take apart the transmission and inspect some things, and NOW we are waiting for a part that is on BACKORDER. In the meantime we can't drive our Brand New car b/c the transmission has been taken apart. Luckily the dealership is paying for the rental car. If this doesn't fix the issue, I'm going to push that this be a Lemon. This is the 2nd time we had the car in the shop for this same issue. jeffry1029
An update to my post on 26 July on my 2012 Dodge Journey R/T. It has now been in the shop for 6 days out of the 2 weeks I have owned it and the Chrysler rep who was here to diagnose the shuttering issue with the transmission has come to an astounding conclusion. "There is no fix at this time". Thank you. Chrysler has turned my case over to the buy-back department since my vehicle only has 1000 miles on it and has been in the shop 5 times for repairs they say they cannot make because according to the Chrylser guru "there is no fix at this time". I talked to the buy-back rep for Chrysler and they said I did not have repairs on my transmission 5 different occasions because there is no fix at this time so there was no repair. I contacted several lemon law lawyers and sent them all my information and repair invoices and was suprised to see how many were more than willing to take this case. I now have a lawyer and will keep you posted on the procedings. Here are some of the issues with my Journey: 1. Brake and Steering shuttering, 2. Transmission shuddering, 3. Abnormal tire wear, 4. Electrical malfunction, 5. Defective A/C system.

You should have been enjoying your new vehicle instead of having to deal with all this problems and on top of that stupid Dodge personel that have no freaking idea what they are doing. Good Luck and keep us posted if you can.
Lebowski
"There is no fix at this time". I feel your pain. This is the standard answer that I got in the last 10 months. Luckily my problems are minor (even though I find them annoying) compared to yours.
StarBeast
I've had my 2012 Dodge Journey SXT in the shop for over 2 weeks for the same transmission shuddering. They replaced the Valve Body and the issue still happens. Chrysler wants them to open the transmission and dismantle it now. However when I went up the dealership to talk to them about replacing the car or compensating me for my trouble, now all of a sudden they are saying that this normal for the SXT. They called it a "Characteristic" of the SXT. I told them, "Why would someone want a car that has a chatacteristic that shakes the car when it comes to a stop." I'm still fighting the dealership about this and have obtained a lawyer to pursue this further.
