jaymista
This article was on a news web site: DETROIT (Reuters) - Chrysler LLC said on Tuesday its U.S. sales fell 25 percent in May from a year earlier on an unadjusted basis, under pressure from declining demand for large pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles. Chrysler said its sales fell to 148,747 vehicles in May for its Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep brands, down from 199,393 a year earlier. Car sales fell 33 percent and truck sales fell 22 percent, it said. The company ended May with inventory of 412,009 vehicles, or a 75-day supply, down 14 percent from a year earlier. ----------- I am wondering if the prices for Journey parts will increase as a result and how much? kconnors
Hi Jay, It's a different story here in Canada! Chrysler Canada's roll continues on combined strength of minivan sales and rapid ascension of Dodge Journey crossover << - Chrysler Canada records best May sales in 10 years - Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country minivan sales top 6,500 units for the first time - Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country minivan sales grow nearly 50 percent year-to-date over 2007 - Dodge Journey becomes the No. 1-selling crossover in Canada - 13 Vehicles under $20,000 campaign to continue in June >> WINDSOR, ON, June 3 /CNW/ - Chrysler Canada's sales grew seven percent in May (27,325 units) and extended the unprecedented streak of year-over-year sales increases to 22 consecutive months. May sales were driven by Chrysler's one-two punch of their all-new minivans and the newly crowned most popular crossover in Canada, the Dodge Journey. Sales were also bolstered by the increased demand for fuel-efficient vehicles such as the JeepĀ® Patriot and Dodge Caliber. "Chrysler Canada's retail sales growth this year is driven by three vehicle segments that are increasing in popularity with Canadian consumers: fuel-efficient compacts, long-wheelbase minivans and crossovers," said Dave Buckingham, Vice President - Sales, Chrysler Canada. "Fuel efficiency continues to remain top of mind for consumers. Chrysler Canada is well positioned to capitalize on this demand with 20 vehicles capable of 30-plus MPG (highway)." As a result of the overwhelming response from customers, Chrysler's "Thank You Canada" pricing program will be extended through June. The program positions 13 Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles under $20,000. "The Thank You Canada program has helped increase demand for both new and established vehicles in Chrysler's lineup and kept our sales momentum strong," added Buckingham. May Highlights Minivans continue to have strong appeal for Canadian consumers, as total May sales of the Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country reached an all-time monthly high of 6,528 units, an increase of 52 percent compared to the same month last year. Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country minivan sales are up a significant 48 percent (21,645 units) through the first five months of the year. "Our minivan business is remarkable in Canada," said Reid Bigland, President and CEO of Chrysler Canada. "With rising fuel prices, Canadian consumers are struggling with the costs associated with large SUVs, but do not want to forego the functionality. As a result, they are getting back into our minivans in record numbers. The minivan provides exceptional fuel economy, outstanding functionality and is available for the first time ever at a starting price of under $20,000." With sales averaging 4,300 units per month, the minivan is Chrysler Canada's top-selling vehicle, Canada's third-highest selling vehicle in 2007 and the No. 1 minivan in the country for 24 consecutive years. Canada's newly crowned favourite crossover, the fuel-efficient Dodge Journey, had another month of increasingly strong sales with 1,581 units sold. This versatile crossover has won over Canadians with its 35 MPG fuel economy (highway), a seven-passenger seating capability and a starting price of $19,999. Sales of Dodge Ram, Chrysler's second-highest volume vehicle, held steady in May with 4,034 units sold. Combined Jeep Patriot, Compass and Dodge Caliber sales were up 36 percent (5,771 units) compared to May 2007, setting a new record for best month sales. Jeep Patriot and Dodge Caliber are among Chrysler's top-five selling vehicles, and are just two of the over 20 vehicles that achieve an excess of 30 MPG Highway. jaymista
That's a good record for an automotive company these days. I don't know why but when I read reports from such mags as "Consumer Reports" I get a general idea that Chrysler products aren't rated too high but when something comes out like the report above, where the consumer is shown to be actually buying the products in good demand, I tend to think that Chrysler products are under-rated by such magazines. As long as the Journey keeps selling well, that should help in keeping the prices of replacement parts down.
Hit-By-Thunder
I heard the same thing Keith from the store manager. Now I know it is true., kinda Funny how all the media says the Journey is a terrible or whatever Crossover, but the numbers show different. I think most (not all) auto journalists should listen to what the manufactures tell them and start telling the truth or even better DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!!! then do a report. The first I heard of the sliding arm rest was like weeks after ordering and not one mention was made of it in all the other reports. Sure it may sound petty but hey, get the facts, then print it. I had to confirm the sliding armrest here cause no other journalist mentioned it. Thank you to that member by the way!!! just like the flex seating, alot of journalists were slamming how small and terrible it is, well it is not designed to be a full time 7 seater, it is a 5 seater with the available 7 seats when needed. If I was to be transporting 7 adults, this car would not be what I need, I would be looking for something alot bigger. alright, alright, I'll get off my soap box now, rant is over hey at least I didn't buy a Full size SUV from GM  Rob
SuperTurbo
Well... usually I don't really trust those consumer reports, and the worst is JD PXXXR. that seems to be the worst, and looks like they like to receive some cash, and do a good report on certain brand all the time.... Like Mazda for example, no one report that their car likes to rust after like 4-5 yr, I am sure that many Mazda have this problem, but I hardly hear anything from those reports... Hey Rob, just curious, why you hate GM so much anyways?
