2late4u
have a 2011 mainstreet and love it . keep meaning to ask the dealer about where the battery is located and replacement cost as my history with mopar batterys is they only last about 2-3 years. also i have the large display but without the back up camera i been seeing the lock pik and wondering if after it is installed would the back up camera come on after you put the car in reverse or do you have to activate it each time with the steering wheel buttons. one place my son checked for me wants $750. to install a system for me. any info would be helpfull about weather to try it myself. thanks
bigtsr
Battery placement in the DJ is a bit on the ridiculous side. It's located under the air filter (3.6 Pentastar) behind the left front wheel. Not exactly do it yourself friendly. My last Mopar battery ('07 Caliber) lasted 5 yrs.but my past experience has been a 3yr average life and if you live in a very warm climate expect shorter life. Doug D
Yes, the battery is below the air filter, but can be accessed from the left front tire well.
brwengel
Yes the battery is hidden, but once you remove the left front wheel, it's not that bad to access the battery. Once you get those pesky plastic clips out the wheel well panels drop out easily. I had to replace the battery on my '09 just before the vehicle was two years old.
