Draver17
Hey guys It's my first winter with the truck. I just put my winter rims on and it's the 1st time on any car that I see this, maybe because the rims are hub-centric? The front rims seem to have a "bolt" exposed and the rear ones have a hole all the way through where I can see my disc. - See pics Is this normal or do I need to do something to protect them (i.e. grease the front bolt, cap the rear hole somehow)? Thanks D http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v639/dproko/IMG177.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v639/dproko/IMG178.jpg
Dre
Wow, maybe I didn't pay enough attention to mine but I'm almost sure all 4 are like the first pic with the center nut. I'll have to take another look!
drb227
Mine are the same as your two photos. I've already been through part of one winter with them exposed like that, with no issues.
Armendegga
I noticed the pic was the same on the first one. I didn't notice the rear ones though. Weird
coolram62
The steel wheels don't have as thick a hub flange as the alloy wheels is why the rotor center bore protrudes so noticeably. Before you swap back ,or rotate tires, measure the flange thickness of your steel and alloy wheels. Dre
I just checked on mine and all 4 wheels have the center nut like your first pic. Maybe it's different because I have a 2011 RT.
Armendegga
Correct. The nut I believe is actually connected to the CV Joint. So on the 2011 RT's since they are AWD, we will have CV joints on the front, and the rear.
Draver17
Cool. Thanks guys. Did you do anything to protect the bolt (i.e grease)? Anything to be done for the hole or leave as is?
Draver17
Well they already started rusting. Should i grease em?
Armendegga
I didn't grease mine, but I don't think it would hurt to grease them.
