pantheman75
The Dodge website has been updated and now includes new information about the 2012 Dodge Journey: 2012 Dodge Journey Dodge has also released a new brochure that is available for download: 2012 Dodge Journey brochure
pantheman75
I'm loving the pictures in the brochure of the black Journey R/T with it's new black leather interior with red stitching (because it's what I ordered)
Powdered Toast Man
Looks like they dropped the Lux and there's some new colour options.
pantheman75
Looks like they dropped the Lux and there's some new colour options. Yup. It looks like the R/T is now the top of the line.
Armendegga
I definitely love the new badge on the grill with the red stripes. Will have to see where to get one of those!
pantheman75
I'm not sure if they really come with that badge... I've seen two or three dozen 2012 Journeys on the lots; none of them have the red stripe badge.
generaltso
There's a picture on that page of a Journey towing a trailer with some small boats on it. It definitely looks like a conventional horizontal hitch instead of the Mopar vertical hitch. But it looks like it comes right out of the facia instead of beneath it like aftermarket hitches. What's up with that?
ChrisPollard
My '12 doesn't have the cool new badge in the grill ... I want one though! Looks sharp!
generaltso
My '12 doesn't have the cool new badge in the grill ... I want one though! Looks sharp! Maybe it's late availability, like the 8.4 screen. I guess we'll find out in the next few weeks as special orders begin to arrive.
pantheman75
Would Dodge do that... switch badging during a model year?
generaltso
Would Dodge do that... switch badging during a model year? I don't see why not. They're switching from 4.3" screens to 8.4" screens during the model year due to parts availability, which is a bigger change than the badging since there's a price difference. Maybe those little red stripes have been hard to come by
Powdered Toast Man
Switch badging mid model year? Heck, in 2011 they switched the entire front and rear fascia halfway through the model year.

ChrisPollard
Wouldn't be the first time a company did a mid-year something. 1964.5 Mustang, anyone? :P Heck, once upon a time it wasn't unheard of for major mechanical changes mid-year. A badge switch is nothing. Still ... want one! :P

pantheman75
I noticed today that the 2012 Journeys that Dodge gave away in the "you find it you win it" campaign had the grill emblems with the red stripes, yet the 2012's on the lots don't have them. Here are some pictures of the giveaway models: I really hope my R/T comes with the red emblems... they look SWEET. pantheman75
I e-mailed Dodge customer service today to ask them what's up with the emblems with the stripes being in the advertisements but not on the lots. I know that this sounds mean, but I'll be amazed if I get a knowledgeable and accurate answer.
pantheman75
I e-mailed Dodge customer service today to ask them what's up with the emblems with the stripes being in the advertisements but not on the lots. I know that this sounds mean, but I'll be amazed if I get a knowledgeable and accurate answer. Here's the official response I got from Dodge... notice that they didn't really answer my question and they referred to my 2012 Dodge Journey R/T as "Heat AWD Hatchback". They also said that my Journey will have chrome wheels (which it won't). I'm sure that there's other errors I didn't catch. Love it... generaltso
They also said that my Journey will have chrome wheels (which it won't). I wouldn't be too sure about that. When I ordered my Crew, the chrome wheels kept getting automatically added to the order. My dealer tried to remove them, but the system wouldn't let them be removed. You can try this yourself by going to dodge.com and trying to configure a Crew without the chrome wheels. They're selected as an option, and it won't let you select the regular alloy Crew wheels. This doesn't show up for the R/T because the $500 chrome wheels aren't even supposed to be available as an option in R/T trim. It would appear that the 19" regular alloy wheels that are used on the Crew and R/T are not available for some reason. I know that they're a slightly different color between the trims, but the wheels are the same before they're painted. Since I don't want the chrome wheels (especially not at $500), my dealer is going to swap the wheels with a 2011 Crew that they have on the lot (and deduct the $500 chrome charge). You should probably check with your dealer to see if they have an R/T on the lot just in case yours ends up with wheels you don't want. If the chrome wheels are showing up on the feature list for your VIN from Chrysler, that's probably what it will come with.

generaltso
The Dodge brochure also shows that the R/T doesn't come with the chrome wheels. Yup, it's not supposed to. But it's also not supposed to come with the 4.3 inch display. That didn't stop them from shipping them with the 4.3 when the 8.4 wasn't available. Hopefully, you'll get the wheels you want, but I wouldn't be surprised if it comes with chrome wheels like mine. It will probably be pretty easy to get the dealer to not charge you for them, but that's not much of a help if you don't want the wheels. I LOVE chrome wheels, but I think that the chrome wheels that they offer on the Journey are styled more for a "luxury" look as opposed to appearing "aggressive" (which is what I'm going for with the R/T model). The satin carbon finish wheels that it's supposed to come with achieve that more aggressive look in my opinion.

When my dealer told me that I had to get the chrome wheels, I told them that I won't buy the car then. They quickly agreed to swap the wheels and deduct the $500 upgrade charge when it comes in. Luckily, they still have a couple cars on the lot with standard Crew wheels. I'd rather have the R/T wheel color actually, but they don't have any R/Ts on the lot.
