jaymista
According to my manual, the first oil change takes place at 10,000 kms (6000 miles). This seems to be stretching it a bit in my opinion but I don't know much about these new engines. I have a 3.5 V6 and I am wondering if anyone else is getting an oil change sooner than the manual calls for. My previous car was a 3.3 V6 Caravan and I got the oil changed every 3000 miles. kconnors
I agree Jaymista. I plan to get my Engine Oil changed at 5,000 Km for the first couple of changes anyway. I also plan to switch to Mobil 1 Synthetic at about 10,000 Km. I'm also thinking about the AWD Transfer Case/Rear End oil and plan to do some research on when it should be changed. I know the rear end oil on my Goldwing Motorcycle was black the first couple of times I changed it but runs really clear now. I can't see how a car would be any different! caruby
With the new cars and the way they are setup. The Oil Cahnge indicator will come on when your vehicle requires oil to be changed. This will vary between drivers and cars. The different situations you drive in will determine when the oil needs to be changed. I had one customer who's indictor light came on after 3500 miles and another whose didn't come on till after 5,000 miles. Both had different driving habits. jaymista
I've never had a vehicle with a Change Oil indicator! I guess things have changed a lot in the past decade or so. One big change has been a cut back in the number of service stations where you could get someone to fill up your gas and check your oil. Those were the good old days! larryl
It took me 5 tries to RESET the oil change indicator as per the manual but I was finally successful you would think it would be fairly simple but NO
Hit-By-Thunder
I am a little more anal about break-in so my first change will be after 500 KM's then again at 1500km's. Oil/filters are cheap. After the first 5000km's it will see Mobil1 and nothing else. I plan on keeping this car for a VERY long time. It will be babied it's whole life.
