vardy2000
Well, for the first 20,000 km or so, I was raving about my 2010 Journey SE..Then a grinding noise began in the front brakes..called the dealer who told me to feel the rotor to see if it was hot. I nearly burnt the back of my hand and immediately made an appointment..I had a letter telling me that the brakes and rotor warranty had been extended but apparently that didn't cover my problem.. My problem was that I didn't have maintenance on them at 20, 000 km ..Just need some lubrication and resetting and by the way, thanks for the $100.00..see ya again Second instance..stopped at a traffic light (about 24,000 km) foot on brake..took foot of brake, touched acceleration..no go, tried again..traffic behind getting impatient..third try the vehicle lurched forward..Hmm must need lubrication again.. Scary part, not sure if this is related to brakes or not..Vehicle is now oversteering..my wife ended up on neighbours lawn after making a right turn out of her driveway, she also ended up on a curb on another occasion..these things I did not hear about until I was complaining last night about making a right turn on a traffic light and the vehicle kept going right up on the curb..Had there been any pedestrians around Lord knows what would have happened...Going back to dealer on Friday...should be interesting Anyone had any of these , as I call it "oversteering" problems on the 2010...about 26,000 km currently on it. Would appreciate any suggestions or advice..getting scared to drive the vehicle
2late4u
lubircation on brakes? unless he is talking about the caliper pins needing lube, sounds like alot of bull to me, also brakes shouldnt have to be checked ay 20 k unless you are having problems so that shouldnt have voided any warrenty .now if you were having problems like shudder from warped rotors or a caliper hanging and not releasing that could be the cause of the oversteering by pulling the journey to one side or the other.i would take it back to a different dealer show him the paperwork from the other dealer and have him check it out and if it is the brakes or maybee a bearing problem. good luckP.S. any of these conditions would create a screeching noise that would only get worse Edited January 4, 2012 by 2late4u
bramfrank
Lubing the sliders wouldn't be covered under warranty. It is considered a maintenance issue. If you feel a grinding or hear screeching it is not normal and needs to be properly checked out - overheated disks probably need turning, or better yet, replacing. Your 'over-steer' is very strange - how could the vehicle NOT be controlled by the driver to the point of going up on someone's lawn . . . .? Took foot off pedal, pressed accelerator and there was 'no go' . . . did the engine speed up and the vehicle stayed put? Did the engine NOT speed up, and the vehicle stay put? Even if the vehicle pulls right, counter steering will make it go straight, even if the wheel is clamped tight - she needs to control the vehicle, especially in 'problematic' situations. If it is pulling that bad then the caliper may be stuck - and unless it is due to corrsion from salt that SHOULD be covered under warranty. However this is all just conjecture. Remote diagnostics require complete information. As far as I can tell, we don;t yet have enough details.
