generaltso
I've noticed that the front brake rotors have developed deep grooves that can easily be seen and felt if I run my finger over the rotors. I don't feel any pulsation in the brake pedal at all, and they seem to be functioning fine. But it concerns me that I'm seeing this deep grooving after only 2000 miles. Should I care? generaltso
Do you think the dealer will do anything if there aren't any problematic symptoms?
wrxz24
Do you think the dealer will do anything if there aren't any problematic symptoms? I would hope so. I'll check mine this morning with all most the same mileage.
generaltso
I'll stop by the dealer today and see what they say about it. At the very least, I guess it would be good to have them make a note of it in case I do end up with brake problems down the road.
generaltso
I stopped by the dealer and had them take a look. They agreed that it's not normal to see that kind of scoring on the rotors after only 2000 miles, so they made an appointment for me to bring it in Friday. We'll see what they come up with. symbasys
At 10k miles, I had to take my 2010 Journey to the dealer for front brake vibration and a scored rear rotor. They replaced the front pads & rotors and turned the rear one, all under warranty. So far so good with 12,500 miles and counting.
generaltso
The dealer couldn't find anything wrong with the braking system, but they replaced the front rotors and pads since they couldn't explain the scoring. We'll see if it happens again.
redtomatoman
After reading this thread, I checked mine. No scoring or evidence of wear. 10K miles. I did notice that there is some rust on the rotors. Normal? Peace.
generaltso
I did notice that there is some rust on the rotors. Normal? Yeah, rust on the parts of the rotors that don't direclty contact the pads is normal. Any rust on the suface of the rotors usually comes right off as soon as you drive the car.
