oracle
Hi, I just called the dealership and I think is way to expensive to pay for the front and rear diff flush over $150 each. I've done it in the past to other vehicles but I'm wondering if anyone here have done it and have documented the process or offer any advice. Note: My Journey is off warranty so it's my sole responsibility. Thanks!
caperinmuskoka
I check on You Tube sometimes for a clip on how to projects............It helped many times on the ATV axle ruber boots replacement....Caper...
oracle
I been searching but there is absolutely nothing.. So I bit the bullet and got the car in to get the Tranny flush+Rear Diff+Power Transfer Unit (PTU). Journey doesn't have a front diff separate, it is part of the tranny or the PTU I can't remember. Also I got the coolant flush done. All was done for $700 Now with the new tranny fluid the transmission is shifting... exactly the same... i guess that is good news meaning the tranny is still in good shape and probably didn't need a fluid replace so badly.. oh well.. Now I'll deal with those pesky calipers..

oracle
I have 141,000KMS and it is a 2009. As per the users manual schedule the tranny and diffs need to be flushed as well as the coolant.. The next big thing is the timing belt but that is until 170 and since I only drive about 15K a year I will do it in about 4 years.. Also they found out the gasket shaft in the rear diff is seeping oil so that's another $250 :-( but it's not urgent.. the bad one is the rear brakes down to 1 mm.. I'll replace the pads on Sat. I'll see if I can take pics.etc of the procedure cause there is nothing for the Journey out there.. I've never owned a car more undocumented (technically).. caperinmuskoka
You only drive about 15 K a year........So the 2009 with 141,000 must not have been all you from day one then... You must have bought it used? Do you have the 19" tire/wheel package? Any issues with the AWD over the 4 years? Thanks...........Caper.................. oracle
You bet, I got her with 140 K. 95% of that is highway so the Journey is in top shape aside from the cracked windshield.... Yes it has the 19" Chrome clad wheels (and brand new Khumo tires + R/T Package + Navigation, etc. (All bells and whistles) I have the service history and absolutely nothing wrong, the recalls were done and brakes just twice in the 140 K, I just replaced the rear brake pads cause they were down to 1 mm... No issues with AWD or anything, I suspect that is rock solid cause it came from MB if I remember correctly.. I'm loving the DJ. Every time I get in I feel like I'm in a 1st class seat! I mean I've been driving beaters since I can remember... so this thing is a complete treat!!
