Moparman
Maybe it has nothing to do with the trim level or whether it has AWD. Perhaps they just switched over to the bigger brakes as of a certain date. Nope, we have got 6 or 8 more in since mine, and non awd, and they have small ones. Moparman
I have a 2012 sxt awd and going by your pictures i have the bigger brakes, mfg date is 10-11 Nice, that pretty much says what I figured, they are ONLY on AWD Journeys. Moparman
In Europe all the Fiat Freemont (same of DJ) assembled from January/February are arriving with bigger brakes, both AWDs and FWDs. Yeah not suprising for stuff over there, I'll bet firmer suspension also. Really, ALL the V6 ones should have these brakes. its2easy
generaltso
So far ONLY R/T AWDs have I seen with the bigger ones, but we have had no crew AWDs in, so they may also have the biggers ones also, don't know. I will update as I see them. You sure yours doesn't have the bigger ones? Do Crews with AWD exist in Canada? I thought AWD was only on the R/T up north? Mine definitely has the calipers that are in your pictures of the smaller brakes. It was built in November of 2011. I'll swing by my local dealer and see which brakes are on the DJs on the lot. chryslerguy
You can't just put the bigger ones on, alot of parts are different. And they are not going to go swap rotor sizes under warr. As far as what gets the bigger ones, I have only stated what I have seen. I just looked online, AWD drive only in R/Ts up here. For some reason I thought it was an option on Crew. Guess I don't pay enough attenion to options on the new stuff. I fix em, not sell em ! :-)

No way to tell in Canada I guess since they're the same thing. I'll see what I can find on my dealer's lot.
Moparman
What is different? The rotors, calipers and pads? Probably also flex lines/abs controller/master cyl. ...........bigger brakes are going to have a differnt feel, and reaction to a certain pedal pressure. Othere things have to be changed to compensate for that. Journey_SeXT

I question that. Mine was built after his and has the smaller brakes.

He may not be looking close enough at pics, very possible they are the small ones. His may look bigger, as he has the small wheels. Thats why I posted pics , both with the same wheels. Easiest way is to look at front caliper, the 2 styles look quite a bit different. Wish I could offer a better breakdown as to what has what, but have been able to find nothing listed anywhere. I'm just looking at the caliper style, and there's no question that mine match the calipers in your pics of the smaller brakes.
hdfxst
i didn't look at the caliper,i just looked at how much of the wheel the rotor filled in,here are some pics. generaltso
i didn't look at the caliper,i just looked at how much of the wheel the rotor filled in Your wheels are 17", and the wheels in Moparman's pics are 19", so looking at the amount of space around the rotor won't tell you anything. The wheels are blocking most of the calipers in your pics, but from what I can see, they looks more like the smaller ones to me.
hdfxst
that's my mistake for just looking at the rotor

Darryl78
I am from Alberta Canada, and I have a 2012 crew FWD and going from mopar's pics I have only the small sized rotors. 9000 kms so far and rotors are still in good shape

generaltso
Has anyone else gotten a 2012 AWD recently and seen the bigger brakes? I'd really like to nail down exactly which models are coming with the bigger brakes? It appears that the R/T in Canada is coming with them, but no reports of any in the US yet. Anyone? WheelsintheSky
We bought a lifetime warranty with ours so I'm almost hoping to have brake issues.

I thought those just covered the power train.
WheelsintheSky
Your lifetime warranty covers wearable parts? I thought those just covered the power train. Does not cover fluids, brake pads, wiper blades, tires...I was assured however that absolutely everything else was covered. If there's wear on the rotors at 5000 miles it will be covered.
