pmca
Hello, I'm new to this forum and looking for some advice. I purchased my new Fiat Freemont in Spain July 2011 and had some initial teething problems which were all but sorted out by July 2012 including having new parts put into the gearbox due to hardness of engaging gears and 2nd gear not engaging at all at times. Within a week of these repairs I returned the car to the dealership to complain that I was still having trouble engaging the gears and there was a sound of crashing on each change but not all of the time. The dealership put a report to Fiat HQ in Madrid to correct the work under guarantee but they refused this request simply by saying that it was a "hard gearbox" and they would not agree to my claim. I am now left to challenging their decision and would like to hear from anyone with a similar problem.
Lebowski
Hello pcma I purchased my new Fiat Freemont in Spain July 2011 and had some initial teething problems which were all but sorted out by July 2012 Really? Lucky you, I have mine since september 2011 and to this day it still has the full set of problems, however... including having new parts put into the gearbox due to hardness of engaging gears and 2nd gear not engaging at all at times. Within a week of these repairs I returned the car to the dealership to complain that I was still having trouble engaging the gears and there was a sound of crashing on each change but not all of the time. I don't find it hard at all, but then maybe it's a problem of perception. I had a clunking noise, not only when changing but also when accelerating/decelerating. It turns out it was a loose nut in the front wheels. BTW, keep in mind that the engine and the gearbox in the US/Canada is completely different than those sold by FIAT (maybe the automatic gearbox is the same), also I don't even think that a manual gearbox is even available, so you will only hear from international subscribers to this forum. Mcgusto82
Yup. No manual gearbox here. Only a 4 speed auto on the gas 2.4 4 cyl, and the new dodge 6 speed auto with the gas 3.6. No diesels on this side of the pond even. Good luck getting your DJ fixed.
