scottstoked
Hello all . . . My spouse has a 2010 Journey (no frills, just basic model) with the standard AM/FM 6-disc stereo. I don't believe she has the upgraded Infinity speakers or anything. I would like to replace the factory stereo with a Sony XAV-64BT double din touch screen. It's been difficult to find some info on this. I found a bit of info on one thread, but just wondering if anyone else has done this in the 2010 model? - I understand there is a bracket or brace that needs to be expanded or modified. How so? - Do I need something other than the dash kit, harness and antenae? I saw a few places mention an interface, but no info if this is for the higher tier stereo systems or also applies to the stock system. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Mcgusto82
You need this METRA AXXESS XSVI-6522-NAV AFTERMARKET RADIO WIRING INTERFACE FOR SELECT CHRYSLER VEHICLES Look it up in eBay. If you're interested, I have the ASWC module I could sell you. It's to keep your steering wheel radio buttons (if u have them) The antenna depends on the size of the plug for the Sony. scottstoked
Thank you! That helps verify it for me. Oh, there are no steeering radio buttons in her car. If anyone knows or has experience with modifying the exisiting bracket to make room for the receiver, I'd love to hear.
Mcgusto82
RADIO INSTALL DOUBLE-DIN DASH KIT 95-6511 2007-2011 DODGE VEHICLES You need that. There shouldn't be anything to modify. The install should be simple and sweet. I had an 08 caravan. Very similar set up.
scottstoked
I would LOVE it if I didn't have to modify anything, but it looks like it may be necessary according to this thread. Scroll down to find NormsHGW post. He doesn't explain the method he used to expand the bracket to make room for the double-din, though. Mcgusto82
Some elbow grease, and you'd have yourself a new radio. Don't be afraid, if he did it, why can't you?? Besides, the OEM radio mounts on the front, if you need to replace it, I'm sure it would go back in just fine. I say go, but it's up to you. Good luck. scottstoked
Hey there . . . My wife didn't want me modifying anything on her car without proper instructions (I'm not a car audio guy), so I installed a single din deck and bracket. Super easy install with the single din.
