Run away car

I came across this vid.

Car in question isn't a DJ, but a new Kia sorento. Some levels of the sorento have a keyless ignition. Im thinking this one has it.

The woman driver tell the 911 operator she can't put the car in neutral. (it won't move)

I guess if the car is at full wife open throttle, and under such a heavy load, I can see the level being difficult to move.

So what can we do in this scenario? I don't drive the DJ regularly, the Mrs does.

But the times I have, I've tried shutting the car off in D, accidentally.

The engine won't kick off.

How if at all can the engine be forced off in an emergency?

In my GC, I can manually turn the ignition in any tranny position.

Personally I think I would go into manual mode (if possible) and kick down gears.

Any opinions?

Mcgusto my theory is this: She had her car in manual mode which caused her not being able to put the car in neutral. The kia sorento has a diffrint shit pattern unlike the journey. Here is a picture of the sorento shift patttern http://autocar-zone.com/images/2011/08/2012-Kia-Sorento-SX-AWD-Gear-Shift-Image-280x280.jpg As you can see there is a possibility of you getting stuck there. If she was quite stressed out, she'd probably not think of that. This is just my theory.

I didn't check if it works but the manual says that you have to press the button for 2 seconds if you want to stop the engine when the speed is higher than 8km/h.

I took my DJ and tested this yesterday.

Glad to report, it does work. Had it around 15mph, held it, and poof.

It was weird cause I had to keep my eyes on the tach. Car so quite, I didn't hear it shut off.

Also, why doesn't it allow you to force the engine off while stopped?
