Power Window Auto Problem

Recommended Posts

I recently ran into an issue with my auto up not working for the drivers power window, but the auto down was working fine.

Doing some research a came across an article that helped me resolve the issue.

For some reason I "unlearned" my auto up feature somehow. These are the steps I followed to "relearn" the auto up feature.

  1. Roll window all the way down
  2. Roll window all the way up with button full pulled to second detent
  3. When window closes continue to hold up button in second detent for 2-3 seconds
  4. Roll window down
  5. Test auto feature

I think how I disabled the feature by hold the up too long one time when not paying attention to the window while talking to my son. (Don't worry, we were parked at the time. Not driving)

Good Morning all!

To add what Astral shared, I am posting the instruction per page 40 of the 2012 Owner's Manual.

"Reset

It may be necessary at some point in time to reactivate the Auto-up/Auto-down feature.

To do so, perform the following steps:

1. Pull the window switch up to close the window completely and continue to hold the switch up for an additional two seconds after the window is closed.

2. Push the window switch down firmly to the second detent to open the window completely and continue to hold the switch down for an additional two seconds after

the window is fully open."

Thanks for bringing this to our attention Astral; super helpful info!

That's interesting...I had a problem with the auto feature when I pushed up and let it go. It went all the way up and then about 1/2 way down. This happened with several tries until I realized I had added the in channel plastic window guards. I now believe the window was detecting something in the channel and using its safety feature to avoid damaging a finger. All these electronic

doo-dads are neat but can also be frustrating.

I had the same thing when I first installed my front weathertech visors, they do settle in eventually and allows for normal auto up/down operation.

Thanks...I certainly hope they will settle in. Right now the auto window feature is almost worthless. Funny I don't seem to have this problem on the passenger side, only the driver's side. Hopefully the passenger side has already settled.
