Brucebotti
Hi, I'm a newbie here, looking at a 2012 or 2013 Journey. One of the key issues I have is car seats. I have a 5yr, 3yr, and 6 month old Grandsons, and the wife and I would like to be able to take them all with us. We are looking at the 7 passenger version. My questions are: 1. Will three car seats fit (one is a rear facing infant seat)? 2. Assuming that they will fit, how easy will it be to access the rear? I want to leave the seats in permanently and not have to take one out each time to access the rear (third) seat. I know I could eliminate the issue by purchasing a mini van, but the Journey looks so much better. Thanks, Bruce
Mcgusto82
Hi Bruce. I have a '12 3 row DJ with 3 car seats permanently in it. I too agree, a minivan does the job 10x better. My solution is 2 car seats in the rear. My 7yr old is in a high back booster. There's room for him to get in and out by hself. Then, next to him, u have my 3.8 yr old in a gracco nautilus with the seat in front of him folded DOWN, not forward. (better access to buckle him) In the second row I have an infant base behind the passenger seat. I think the set up works better with the infant base behind the driver, but I wouldnt fit in it. My wife won't let me take the unused seat completely out, but that would work even better. Keep in mind, you're going to have to use the seat belts on the 3rd row as there's no LATCH hooks back there 😠 I would also recommend removing the 2nd row head rest out too for better visibility of your grand kids. If you can also, get the leather seats. It's tight space in the car, my kids are always stepping on some part of the seat by accident. Brucebotti
Hi Mcgusto82, Thanks for the response and helpful info. I could set my car seats up similar to yours and live with it. The minivan seems to be a better deal and would work much better, but I like the look of the Journey so much better. Decisions! Decisions! If anyone else has any opinions, please share. I'll keep you all posted. Bruce
