Etienne
hey, new Dodge Journey Crew 2012 owner since last friday! real happy about it! I'm from Montreal area in Canada. I do have one serious question though, and I can't find a definative answer here in the furom, despite numerous topics about the subject. I got a great deal on my Journey because it was sitting on the dealer lot, and they wanted to get rid of 2012's. I wanted the Tow Prep package, and it wasn't factory installed, so he told me they would install it at the dealer shop before delivering the vehicule. I'm always scpetical, and need to check.... I can confirm they installed the wiring harness, but have no clue about the engine oil cooler... if someone could demystify this, I'd appreciate! it's my understanding that the pentastar comes equipped with an engine oil cooler as standard equipment.... I've seen one piece of dodge official documentation somewhere that specifies that the engine oil cooler is part of the tow prep package for the 2.4l engine only, but a whole other bunch of dodge documents that don't specify and say there is a cooler in the tow prep package, with no mention of engine specifics... as well, the tow weight rating is different for pentastar with and without tow package, so there must be some difference, as I don't think the wiring will tow much weight... lol. my dealership salesman said it was a larger oil cooler that was installed when the tow prep package is instaled... and that they swapped the cooler for the larger one. I don't know what is a lie and what is not anymore... and I know A LOT about auto mechanics... but if there is one by default and the tow package one is larger, well, I can't tell if I haven't see the other to compare.... if anyone has pictures of the actual tow prep package cooler, installed on the vehicle or not.... that would clear things up for me!!! thanks a million! I'll stay in touch. oh, and here's my ride, it's 3-coat pearl white.
rolly
Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new Journey. When I ordered my 2013 Journey SXT, I odered it with the trailer tow package, but I won't be getting it until November or December so I can't help you with your problem. You came to the right place to find out- the folks on this forum are very helpful!
