First Dodge purchase a 2009 Journey R/T

Hi, my wife and I recently traded in our 2009 Chevy Malibu for something a little bigger due to having our first child.

Our son, Kason just hit 10 months old last week. He is a big kid and he quickly grew out of his traditional carseat that snapped into a base, and into a fixed, rear facing, much larger carseat.

This was a big problem for our little Malibu and we delt with it for quite awhile until we couldnt take it anymore. So about a month ago, we took our Malibu up to look for something a little bigger.

Me, being the kinda guy to want a big ol' pickup or SUV, began to look at such vehicles as Tahoes, Suburbans, and I even tested out a 2005 Hummer H2 and was convinced that this was "the one".

Unfortunately for me, my wife wasn't having none of that. LMAO

She told me, she wanted a smaller SUV... a crossover. I was disgusted to hear that she wanted something like a Honda Cr-V, Nissan Rouge, Jeep Liberty/Patriot. Now, I have nothing against these vehicles, but they just seemed a little girly to me. We looked around at all these types of vehicles and I was not impressed. We finally came across a Dodge Journey and I loved it. Even though it was the same type of vehicle that we had been looking at (i was dreading them all) there was something about the Dodge Journey that stood out to me. It was bigger, more rugged looking, more 'manly' if you would. I really liked how it stood out compared to the others. Big ol' 19" Chrome wheels. Chrome trim all around. I instantly fell in love with it. We took it for a drive. I noticed the leather seats and the 7" touch screen stereo system. Didnt really mess around with anything else. I was paying most attention to how it felt and most importantly how I felt while sitting in it. I'm a bigger guy so comfort was a big thing for me. Everything was perfect. Messed around with all the stuff in the front, noticing the heated seats and the backup camera. I was in awe!

Well long story short, we got it, traded in the Malibu. I was happy with the purchase. I later found out after buying it that there was the drop down screen in the back with wireless headphones and the works. i'm not sure why the dealer didnt mention all of that before we bought it, maybe he just assumed we played with every single thing in it prior to agreeing to buy it. (I probably should have.)

It is also my first Dodge purchase. I have always been a Chevy guy but in the past I have driving and ridden in Dodge vehicles and I liked them. I was pretty intrigued about owning a Dodge as soon as we saw it. One of the things I thought about alot while test driving and everything was the Michael C. Hall (Dexter) commercial where it talks about the Journey being a search engine for the World Wide World. LOL Dexter is my all time favorite show so those Dodge commercials with the Dexter voiceover always caught my attention.

Anyways, I am happy to join this community. Always looking forward to reading others' stories, specs, customization, ect.

Welcome and congratulations. It's funny you mentioned that consider the Journey more "manly". The other day I was saying to my wife that I've noticed that Journey owners are so diverse. Youth, senior, female and male- it seems to attract interest from all generations and gender. The other thing I noticed on this board is the enthusiam it generates in North America and internationlly. Enjoy the ride!

I fought the idea of something like this as well but I made the agreement with my wife that we could get it as long as I could put my own touches on it and make it look and run better. I'm kinda diggin it now. Congrats on the baby and the new vehicle. We just picked up ours for the same reason haha. Good luck with both. Post up some pics of that new whipske.
