New guy with 2010 SXT

Whats up everyone. I'm Shaun, I'm 34 and I'm from Cecil County, MD. I came across this site while searching for some upgrades for the 2010 Dodge Journey SXT I just picked up last week. My wife and I are expecting our 3rd child and thought we might need to get a bigger vehicle because my 2004 Mustang GT vert and 2000 Jetta GLS aren't exactly roomy enough for 2 big kids and a newborn.

We came across the 2010 Journey used with only 40k on it and got it for about $8,000 less than Nada/KBB values. Anyway, this is our first Dodge and we love it. I already have some plans to make it a little more personalized. I picked up some nice rounded tips to make the dual exhaust look nice, I have my BIL who's a professional painter putting a light smoke on the tail lights (leaving the reverse lights clear though) and I'm gonna pick up an intake from a Dodge Avenger and give it a lil more pep in its step.

Down the line, next year perhaps, I'd like to get some Jeep SRT8 wheels or even R/T wheels so I can ditch the stockers except during winter. After those mods, I'm probably going to leave it alone. I modded my other two cars heavily and I kinda like having a nice quiet and smooth riding vehicle for a change.

Thanks for viewing. I'm open to any and all suggestions. I'm new to these vehicles so if anyone has any tips for me, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Welcome to the forums! You'll enjoy your new Journey -- they are great vehicles. There is a wealth of information here so if you have a question, it has probably been talked about at some point in time. There are Dodge techs that monitor it too, and they can be extremely helpful as well.

I have done a few mods on my 2010 Journey -- added a MyGig, installed the dash housing from a factory nav display and modded it to hold my Garmin unit, replaced the center stack bezel with one from an R/T and added a titanium wood dash kit overlay to it, added chrome mirror caps and door handle covers, tinted the front side windows, added rear cargo mat & slush mats, etc. A couple of things I have tried haven't worked out (trying to change to LEDs mostly). I plan to upgrade to the 19" polished aluminum 5-spoke wheels at some point and maybe add chrome side trim. I think Journeys are very nice looking vehicles and stand out against all the other look-alike crossovers out there.

Thanks for the welcome. I've got the tails getting smoked now and the tips ill put on this week some time. I'm sick as shit right now and I can barely walk, let alone work on the car haha. I'm more than likely picking up an intake after the holidays and I've been tossing around the thought of side steps. BTW, those rubber floor liners are def a must for this thing. It's gonna be my main snowboarding/Surfing/beach/family vehicle so it's definitely getting used as was the intention when we bought it. I'd like to keep the mileage low, but we will drive it.

Any suggestions I'd be more than willing to hear. Like I said. I'm a car guy but new to the Mopar world and new to Crossovers. Thanks again.

Shaun

Hi Shaun

Welcome to the fold, there is a lot of great info here, in fact several Dodge reps will frequent the forum an give their insight.

I too have a 2010 DJ although mine is an AWD R/T but I have made several cosmetic changes to it to personalize it somewhat.

As you can see in the photo, I have added Mopar Chrome Gas Cap, Chrome Mirror Caps, Chrome R/T emblems on each fender, Chrome Door Sill Plates, OEM Chrome Step Rails, Mopar Bug deflector & Mopar Sunroof Wind Deflector c/w "chrome edging", "Chrome" Buick 3 hole Portholes, OEM Factory Roof Rack Chrome Rails c/w 2 Malone Kayak Carriers which have now been removed as I trailer my kayaks around.

Welcome Shaun. I totally agree with the above statement by "sysbasys". You'll find some great discussion's here with lots of different ideas and guides. We're first time Dodge owners and absolutely love the DJ. We got our 2012 SXT V6 in June... so far, an awesome experience. Enjoy and ask away. Always loads of input. Cheers.

Hola Shaun,

New here as well, just joined up the other day, & been snooping around in here on & off ever since!

Just got our 2012 R/T AWD about 2 months & have been trying to do at least one outing per week with it since as it's so much fun to drive. Was just out with the Grandson's today to a u-pick farm to get some apples, cider & pumpkins & I try to take a shot of "Pearl" with a scenic backdrop whenever I can. Here's todays!

Best Regards

Pablo
