Shadowsaint
Naturally I am in full blown modification mode with my 2012 Journey and one of the things that was urking the crap out of me was the non secure rear plate. All I have is the plate with a custom black chrome cover over it. I carefully drilled 2 holes slightly smaller than the stock sharp point plate screws that were from the front and they went in flawlessly. I used some silicon I have from work and put some in the holes and coated the screws in it. It seems to fit like a glove. Since that part of the vehicle is NOT metal is there anything other than moisture I need to worry about?
Srtified
Mmmm, I am personally not a fan of drilling holes into a vehicle, new or otherwise. I would have used automotive grade acrylic foam mounting tape instead but you did remember to silicone the screw holes before threading in the screws so that's about all you can do now. If it becomes an issue (water build-up) maybe fill the holes with polyurethane finishing putty sand and paint, then go with the mounting tape option.
